The New Jersey based Catch 22 has made a great album! It is probably one of my favorite albums of all time actually, being that it has been playing in my stereo for ehh...about, a year? maybe more. It overall is an amazing album, it has amazing bass lines which keep me goin all the time, and awesome tracks like "dear sergio", "giving up, giving in" (which gives a harder vibe.) And my two favorites, "9mm and a Three Piece Suit" as well as "As the Footsteps Die out Forever." The band shows amazing musical talent, something not a lot of "punk" bands show, they obviously know what they're doing, their drummer dazzles me, and their bassist is great, the guitar keeps you jumping and has an energetic vibe, and the horns blast giving you a great sound. It's great to play in your car and jump along to! (Trust me, i've moshed with myself to this one many a time.) It has an energetic punk ska vibe, with amazing horns and great fast guitar riffs, as well as nice slow songs, it also shows amazing lyrical talent in songs like "As the Footsteps Die Out Forever," a song about the death of ones mother to a sickness...The band shows their musical accomplishments in songs like "Riding the Fourth Wave," and "Kristina She Don't Know I Exist."

All in all, I would have to say this is an amazing upon amazing album. If you wanna hear some great punk ska thats fast and true, with good musical talent and a nice beat, you MUST pick this album up! It has a less than jake/skankin pickle/boucing souls/dasboard confessional/almost rancid-ish kinda sound, only it has some hardcore in it, which is really hard to explain.

It's everything you could want. Buy it now!

This album deserves a better review. It is one of the best albums I can think of. I still like this album better than the Keasbey Nights revamped by Streetlight Manifesto. I don't think Thomas Kalnoky could ever reinvent the raw sound and intensity of this album.

I've never considered myself a tremendous fan of Ska but the previous posts are right; Catch 22 are a damn good group.

P.S. JukeBoxBilly is, perhaps, the worst reviewer punknews.org has ever posted. I can't believe a respected site such as PN.org has given this cretin's asinine compositions their stamp of approval. You'd think they would at least put a limit on how many exclamation points he uses. I'm embarrassed for him.

Best CD ever, no doubt. It doesn't get better than this. Most musically talented band I've ever seen. I'm seeing them live in Hartford on June 9th and I can't wait! Go C22!

Hey dipshits...Can u tell me where Catch sounds like Dashboard and MFATGG? First off MFATGG are a COVER band. Dashboard just sux because he's pissed that his girlfriend left him. He's nothing but a piece of horseshit.

This band is fucking amazing. They don't cease to amaze me and I have been a fan for years. This cd has so much energy. The music presented is on the same level of greatness as Op Ivy and MFATGG and Lifetime. These guys rule. The best part is they are more fun than anything to see in concert. In my honest opinion they are the best Ska band out now, and perhaps one of the best ever...

Catch 22 are one of the best ska bands that I've ever heard. They're amazing live and tons of fun to listen to in your room or car.

It was weird to see them signed to victory some years back...but it was a good move for both sides..shows that victory is not just limited to hardcore..which they have proven in the past few years....I think this band is one of the few "different" bands that opened victorys eyes to such diverse acts.

If there's one ska band that should be on Victory Records, it's these guys.

great album. even though i'm not the biggest fan of ska i absolutely loved this album.
i think now that they have lost two lead singers they should try to make each cd with a different guy singing. wouldn't that be cool?

    Anonymous (July 27, 2001)

This band and album is excellent. Every song on the cd is filled with energy and emotion, as is everything Catch 22 does. Its a sad thing that they have lost 2 lead singers so far, going on their third most likley, but I am proud to say that i have seen shows with the original lead singer and their newest, all the same energy, even maybe more now. They will continue to be one of the best ska bands ever.
