On The Possibility And The Promise, Amber Pacific have partially shedded most of their emotional pop-punk skin in favor of a more streamlined rock approach, and as a result, their debut full-length for Hopeless is a bit less derivative than their Fading Days EP, but the band is still essentially drowning in their suffocating pool of sound-alikes. While the record cleans up a lot of the band's previously horrific problems, like their laughably clichéd lyrical climaxes and overtly poppy arrangements, it only makes for a marginally competent, punk-pop record capable of little more than numbing background music like fellow token entries Don't Look Down and Matchbook Romance (without the pointless screaming, of course) or a third-rate major label-era Autopilot Off.

I think this album has shown that this band does has promise in the future. The album itself has some great riffs, some decent lyrics, good singing but you can see that the they still need to expand their horizons and use some more creativity but other than that, I still think the album is pretty badass for what it is. this i good emo is the greatest music ever i like this album a lot, and i like nufan too. This album is the most average of average Angela is matched by Some Amber Pacific Songs. Also i would like to state that Emo isnt that bad...atleast it wasnt. Its too over populated now but i remember when Emo bands were original. and there are still some bands out there doing Original sounds in the Emo genre. just pointing that out.As for AP meh it COULD be good...needs a bit more pratice Chinatown, NUFAN is one of my favorite bands. I'm a regular on their message board, I was at the show when they recorded their live cd. chinatown, i love NUFAN too, but dude, hard rock bottom is no where near as 'punk' as the last 2 bad religeon records. half the songs on hard rock are love songs, and 'dumb reminders' is totally cheesey pop punk. i mean i love it, cuz i love pop punk and skate punk , but dude...you're exaggerating a bit there. Do give me some insight as to why they suck. I want three good reasons. Get off NUFANS dick Chinatown, they fucking suck. I've heard the first eight songs so far and I think it's great. I can't believe that guy compared them to Don't look Down, they're much better than those guys. If you like Allister or NUFAN's newer stuff you will like this. I've heard the first eight songs so far and I think it's great. I can't believe that guy compared them to Don't look Down, they're much better than those guys. i unfortunately saw this band at sxsw and there was this one point when the band was playing where the chinese kid guitarist sang and it was the highest thing i have ever heard....thought someone stepped on his nuts I've heard the first eight songs so far and I think it's great. I can't believe that guy compared them to Don't look Down, they're much better than those guys. i was given thier EP by a friend and thought it was great, a little elementry musiclly but overall great. But this album has definaltlly shown alot of growth. i think the lyrics show a great out pouring of Will's heart spirtually and physically. AWSEOME album!!! snooooooooooooooore. That video that got posted didn't help me like them either. I'll give them one star for the Hawthorne Heights reason. Where did these guys get their name from? "the only thing keeping albums like this above a 1 star is the fact that somewhere in the world, each member of hawthorne heights is still breathing." I think the songwriting is weak, but this is pop punk at it's best, I love this cd. the only thing keeping albums like this above a 1 star is the fact that somewhere in the world, each member of hawthorne heights is still breathing. Sweet, these guys went up half a star. Give them 3 more releases, and we'll have some decent music. i think it's a solid cd, a lot of growth compared to the ep. this band COULD be good. I bet AP gives this a 5 out of 5 if they already haven't. |
