Every once in a while, a punk album is released with so much energy, intensity and passion that it reminds the listener why he or she was drawn to punk in the first place. The music can serve to re-ignite a spark in the listener that brings back old feelings of anger, rebellion and community and make them feel new again. State Of Discontent is that kind of album.

now i listened to a couple 30 second samples and these guys sounded alot like anti-flag. TELL ME ITS NOT TRUE!?!??! great album, but some of the songs sound similar and some of the lyrics are repetitive aswell Great album! Not their best work but pretty damn good. Buy This CD "This record is really great. The nearest comparison I could give you is probably AFI, but in what I would consider their best "era." (That is, the 1996-1997 where they brought you Very Proud of Ya and Shut Your Mouth...) i loved this album when i first got it. it was the onlymaterial by the unseen i had ever heard. but when i got "the anger and the truth", i threw this piece of shit out the fucking window. Excellent album blistering pace all thro a must have i was reading through this bullshit blog thing and, well, fuck all you "punk rockers" who suddenly decided that to compare everything to the fucking legends. Black Flag is a fucking incredable band, even after Rollins joined it, but come on. there is other good music out there you fuckheads. so what if the unseen all have mohawks and dress like punks. they are punk and this album rocks it all sounds the same but thats not a bad thing "i stopped listening to good chorollete when i was four." i think its a pretty damn good "street punk" album, fuck all of you who dont. The newest album as of 2005 by the well known punk band The Unseen, has only continued to impress me. Their ability to remain original while changing up is proven in the State of Discontent. It is awarded all stars, keeping the record of straight hits on my list. I just hate the people who say "I'm more punk than you" and all that shit. Well if you are so fucking punk and hardcore, then go form your own fucking band and stop complaining about other bands. Complaining over the internet about other bands and people must be the least punk thing to do. But who the fuck cares what is punk and what is not punk? It's just music. Yes it is a lifestyle too, but go live your life the way you want it. Punk has no fucking rules, so don't tell anybody how to live, dress or act. fuck whoever said they "totaly stopped listening to my good charollete cd" is gay. i stopped listening to good chorollete when i was four. they are posuers and wannabees just like you. the new unseen album is fuckin awesome too. so fuck all of you that think it sucks oh yeah, forgot to mention, wow arent there a lot of people who are so punk, hmpf, if you know sooo much about it, why dont you give up your ignorant arrogance and childish "you're 13 years old" crap and talk about the fucking music This is a great band with a great live show. I've seen them 6 times and they never disappoint, but I'd have to say that this record does. I am a true believer that The Unseen are the most talented of all the "street punk" bands (that's most likely why they signed to Epitaph for this one). The sound is polished but it doesn't take away from the music. It does sound more produced then any previous albums, although on songs like Screaming Out I definitely get an Anger and the Truth vibe. But this album doesn’t have the standard Unseen tempo, but that’s not always a bad thing. It’s understandable that after four full lengths and a slew of singles that they have decided to slow down a bit. I like this album a lot but again I would say giving it 5 stars is a bit much. The Stones cover is a bit annoying though. anoyone who saves there money for the suicide machines ,... well. political punk isnt crap. anyone who says anything that is politcal or social is all garbage doesnt deserve the right to vote or to take part in a working soceity. whether politics or political punks are annoying or not you should never stop questioning all the answers around you. fuck off you 2 bit punk wannabe 13 year old fag who said that about the unseen. the guy who posted the lyrics. fucking idiot. I'm kinda weary on purchasing this, the songs I've heard were decent at best but everyone seems to be holding it so high. I was curious, so I downloaded this record to check it out. Now I'm obviously not the punkest guy in the world, but I find it slightly disturbing that people on this site, of all places, are bashing Minor Threat and Black Flag. Who cares about Black Flag and Minor threat This albums OK but they were better with Paul Russo in the band. Yeah, this isn't perfect by any means...the cover is pretty mediocre, it's a bit too polished sounding, but it's good to see the Unseen have "their own" sound now. The Singles Collection sounds like a third-rate Casualties cover band compared to this. all i can think of when i see these guys is how they are an overly cliche psuedo hardcore band posing as a overly cliche psuedo punk band. nice guys and all but come on... you're 40, ticme to cut the spikes. they are trying to relive an era of punk rock that only exists in people's idealized memories. perhaps i'm just too old for this shit, if i was 12-14 i would probably think it rips and buy into it. Minor Threat and Black Flag were crucial in the evolution of punk/harcore despite how you feel about their quality of music. Those bands were ground breaking. Do you really think people will be covering Unseen songs and still listening to this album twenty years down the line. I don't think so. Is this album going to lead to some sort of new musical revolution. No. Nothing against the Unseen, though. I don't believe the Unseen would think they should be compared with Minor Threat or Black Flag either. Why does it matter what they wear and what their hair looks like? They could play a show naked and it wouln't make a difference to me, assuming the music is good-which it is. I really like this record. They scream and stuff, but they still manage to keep it punk. ...5 stars is a bit much... you sir, the poster below me, are correct. I just saw these guys recently and couldn't believe what a cliche they were. But convincing 14 year olds to dress and act like idealized versions of working class Brits from the 70s is an amazing and amusing feat... so one star. Even though I like their cds, I can't get into their live show. I've seen them twice in the past year, and I thought they were horrible both times. Maybe I caught them on two "off" nights. "True because The Unseen are better band, come on people the 80's are over with........and overrated" Man, go listen to Out of Step again. Really, that's a lot better than the first 7" I agree that Minor Threat is way overrated. I have trouble making it past anything after song 8 on Complete Discography (with the exception of "Good Guys...," that song rules). It's like Ian and Co. forgot how to write good choruses immediately after releasing their first demo. Their song on RAB Vol. 2 sounded like Anti-Flag. I doubt that the rest of this album is much better. I like this album. It's a little different then their older stuff. But as some people said, it's similar to some older AFI stuff, which borrowed some hardcore elements. I think people who like strike anywhere and stuff like that will like this also. The vocalist gets little annoying sometimes, but when i'm in the mood to listen to this, It's a good album. The Unseen is a not shitty band, yet has absolutely no chance in standing next to Minor Threat. This band isn't hardcore, they have annoying vocals over punk music.
