This is Weezer's second, and less "commercially" successful, follow-up to their self-titled (a.k.a Blue Album) 1994 release. Personally, I think that the corporate b.s. put out by the media, about how this album was a flop greatly under estimates the content on the album. This is far different from The Blue Album, and the new Green Album, but still a brilliant album. The songs on this album are not as radio-friendly as they are on their other 2 albums, so if you are expecting the same weezer as on those albums, you might be a bit surprised. This album is way darker, and deeper than any of Weezer's other cds. It's sound is heavier, and the guitars seem somewhat out of tune, adding to the dark and confused tone of the album. The best songs on this album are "Tired of Sex" and "The Good Life." Describing the songs is probably as complicated as the songs themselves. Other highlights include "Butterfly," a beautiful acoustic number, and "El Scorcho" the single off the album. Altogether I think this is one of the best albums in the emo/indie genre. Any fan of Weezer or emo should get this cd. This album is very unique and unlike any other cd I've heard. Very good album. It's one of those cd's where, even if you might not like all the songs, theres just something about it that you really like and you cant help buyt like it. Great band. Great album Best album ever ever You emo-fags are silly. You people who can't get into an album unless it has instantly accessible, radio-friendly tunes (the Blue Album) are even sillier. "Why Bother" and "Across the Sea" are the shiz-nitty. Ever notice ow big-name reviewers always give their scores based on how popular they think an album will be? Across The Sea is on this album. crap crap crap crap crap crap This album is probably the most important album ever made for the emo scene. Which is really quite odd, because it is by no means an emo album, nor is weezer an emo band. This album is the best Weezer album when it comes to anything close to emo. i don't really care about what weezer "is" or "isn't"...i really liked this...i'm just now beggining to get used to their new one though This cd is ok, better than the Green album. I bought it and was completely dissapointed, but eventually I began to like it. Pinkerton is not only the best Weezer album, but it's among my top 5 favorite albums ever. It's a very emotional album. The loose-cannon music and heartfelt vocals of Cuomo get my every time. This is hard album to get used to. I just don't feel it, i'm sorry. but it's Weeser so i'll give the album that much credit. i dunno what the fuck weezer are but i do know they are ORIGINAL and i give them that. i think this is the best one. this album is fuckin awesome. it's uniquely beautiful. one of the best album's ever created, and obviously one of the top 90's albums. it's too bad weezer sucks now. This is the most unique album Weezer had ever put out and this is one of my favorite record by them, in my opinion it's their best work. Everytime I play it, it just makes me feel relaxed and enjoy every second of Pinkerton. I have to say it is hard to describe and it's very original musically. Offcourse, this is one of the best albums ever made. I agree with most of this review, except that the guitars ARE NOT out of tune. They have a really thrashy, fuzzy distorted sound but they are indeed in tune. On top of that I think that the best song present here is Across the sea, but that's just a matter of taste. To be tuned or not, however, is not. This is their best album I believe. I can't say the production is great but Rivers was completely honest and the songs don't sound TOO much the same like another album of Weezer's I know. ::cough:: green album! ::cough:: Emo or whatever the fuck they are this Weezer's worst cd. Get Blue Album. worst pile of shit ever produced. I always thought weezer was emo, good review by the way. well, they said in rolling stone they hate being called geek rock...just call em weezer and be done with it. the review fuckin suck, so please dude, dont waste time and money writing this crap . this cd is great and they do have a lable for their type of music, it is called Geek Rock. I think the best songs on this cd are pink triangle, el scorcho, and why bother. This cd is great and everyone should get it. Why the hell would you review this cd? everyone has it already. if your gonna discuss weezer, you should adress the more pressing issues, such as why did matt leave for the rentals and where are the rentals now, and when is that dork bassist who makes the stupid metal signs gonna be kicked out? they don't even play this album live anymore, their embaressed, so if you go see em live ur gonna hear island in the sun crap. save your money! I dont even consider emo a genre...if music didnt have any emotion it wouldnt be music now would it. Almost every kind of music has some form of emotion in it. Some bands just put a little more emotion into what they do. Most bands who are labeled Emo hate being called that. Weezer is fuckin Weezer ok! Dont try to label them because they dont really fit into a certain genre...they combine all kinds of different stuff...its called being eclectic. If you insist on labeling them put them in the kick ass genre. shut the fuck up about what weezer is, the only answer to that questions is 'great'. this album is awesome. Weezer is not at all emo. This is a damn good album and easily the best they've put out, even if you don't like their other albums try this one. Weezer by many is considered an alternative band with emo influence, this record shows their dark emo side best. They recently toured with two other bands considered emo:GetUpKids and Ozma Weezer is neither emo nor indie... |
