When did underground rock become a musician’s craft? The “mathematical” approach of bands like Coalesce and Converge would have you believe that it takes some sort of genius to create great noise. These days I find a lot of hardcore, while interesting, is more than a little contradictory considering its essential roots, which consist basically of this band and maybe a couple of others.

Hey, you could say the same about Deicide and Minor Threat. “Less D.E.P., More Discharge” I agree with the More Discharge More DEP comment. I think when a band can play insane-o complicated shit and still make memorable music, it's a good thing. I also think that there will always be a place for the balls out noise fuck of bands like discharge. I don't see why there has to be a choice between one or the other. First off......if it sounds good....whose to define what "knowing how to play" is? It's just unconcventional, and I for one hate conventional crap. As far as I'm concerned, Eddie Van Halen can't play because he's boring to me- Greg Ginn, on the other hand, is a master in my opinion....because no one else can send me flying around in fits the way he does. And as far as complexity goes, I think the Bad Brains later stuff (like Black Flag's) was just as good as the early stuff....the recordings weren't as intense.....but live they were still as intense as the early days. That's not idea at all, bannedinct. Yeah man, fuck knowing how to play your instruments. ""alot of people fuck it up...its just too bad you did it after you changed your name" "alot of people fuck it up...its just too bad you did it after you changed your name" This is a good review. As someone who often disagrees with you, Will, I say good work. I think I got a little desensitized to this kind of stuff after every opening band at Gilman tried to do this exact thing. Discharge is really good though, and it's good to roll this out every once and again to keep one's mucical tastes in perspective. "all the shit theyve done" is right. wow BSD has been repackaged as Will. It's weird how fast they've turned into one of those bands where you either love them or hate them, but when you think of all the shit they've done it's not that weird at all. How about " Against This? " and your symbol can be AT$ We'll do some acoustic songs so people will labels us folk-punk!!! crooked, lets start a cross continental band. we can call it Against Against Me. already reviewed but its nice to see the word discharge anywhere on the reviews panel. BSD doesn't have the catchiness my manager insisted upon. So..Will..why the name change? Against Me is overrated. There are hundreds of reasons not to like the new album. PS- The worst thing is that I probably added those "literally"'s after I wrote the sentences. Oh well. I think the rest of the review is satisfactory. For something that was evidently reviewed 3 months ago! At least my review is short.. why sully this review with mention of overhyped crap? WillSD, Please tell me someone else has heard the new Against Me!...fuck all you haters in the asshole, T.S.R!!! There Is no reason for anyone not to like this album...and I will be buying both the CD and 2xLP on Sept. 6 Ha. Wait. I read that as "discharge=senses fail" Lame attempt at flame bait... I refuse to know BSD as Will. BSD is BSD. Nothing can change that. BSD, errr I mean Will, what day of the year does your birthday fall on? No, I've seen it used like that other places. Like uh when something literally did something but not physically. You used "literally" incorrectly twice in a short review. Ass cracker. but didn't I just review this like a few months ago? Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes. "By the way, this is BSD... I'm going by my actual first name now." "I mean fuck, how many bands have a "Dis" prefix??" Hahahaha. Shit. Sorry. I forgot this was already reviewed. Oh well Best hardcore band ever, although i think "Hear nothing, See Nothing, Say Nothing" was their crowning glory. good shit. It's a messed up, fucked up, FUCKING SYSTEM! Uh.... Discharge! Discharge! Discharge! Discharge! Discharge! Discharge! Discharge! Discharge! Discharge! Discharge! Discharge! Discharge! Discharge! Discharge! Discharge! Discharge! Discharge! Discharge! Discharge! Discharge! Discharge! Discharge! Discharge! Discharge! Discharge! Discharge! Discharge! Discharge! Discharge! Discharge! Discharge! Discharge! Discharge! Discharge! Discharge! Discharge!Discharge! Discharge! Discharge! Discharge! Um......literally a PERFECT album.....but didn't I just review this like a few months ago?- Brandon Sideleau I'm very confused as to what their actual albums are. I have "Protest and Survive 1981-1984" and "Clay Punk Singles" which are both best of things and there's a lot of overlap between the two. I just bought the Society's Victims set, it's very thorough at 80 tracks, and seems to be a very good overview. You could have said so much more about this band. How about the fact that they pretty much created a "punk" drum beat that is imitated all over. If you like finnish, japanese, or brazilian punk and hardcore of pretty much any nature than you really owe it all to Discharge. I mean fuck, how many bands have a "Dis" prefix?? hah....discharge... |
