Seeing as there was no review here I thought I better review what is one of the best cds to come out of the British Scene in the last few years.

Seeing as many yanks will have never have even heard of this band I'll give you a quick briefing. They're a British Punk band that mix Ska with Hardcore and are very very good at it! I'd say they're a kind of mix between link80 and Op Ivy but with a faster beat and the drums higher in the mix.

Songs like SkaWars mix laid back sax and more upbeat vocals while other songs preview Dub, Drum and Base and even a little bit of Hip Hop on Bitches and Nike Shoes (tongue in cheek of course)

This album is almost perfect from start to finish the raw recording really helps to get accross the energy used in their performances. This won't be the last you hear of this band. They're already one of the fastest rising bands in the UK.

Where Capdown really excel is when performing live. Hopefully they'll hit the states later this year so you can see what your missing.

(if you can't track down the album you can get a taster off MP3.com.

I know its a bit late to comment on this one, but Capdown were probably one of the most important punk bands to come out of England, period. I really don't feel that the 'ska punk' tag does them justice, the music much more interesting than that (not that there's anything wrong with ska-punk). Much more like Bad Brains in the seamless mix of punk/hardcore/funk/reggae. Also, they put London's own Household Name records on the map, reignited a scene that was flagging a little bit under the weight of American pop-punk and paved the way for current UK acts like The King Blues (who supported them on their recent farewell tour). Great, great stuff. Really sad that they broke up recently.

PS Their cover of Rancid's 'I Wanna Riot' is ace.

This album is probably one ska-punk's best examples.

Heavier, faster and stridently more political than Less Than Jake, Reel Big Fish, et al; it has a raw and natural sound that is still fresh in my CD player after years of listening to it.

If you can find a copy, make sure you leave some space for it in your shopping basket, it is well worth your time and money.

"funny how brits always think their shit is the shit."
hey we do produce some good stuff like leatherface n capdown and then look slightly further back and you will find there might not have been a punk scene had it not been for british punk. the ramones were huge over here with only a small fanbase in america. the clash were british stif little fingers were irish without those two you wouldnt have green day (actualy thats not a good point really)
more good bands discharge GBH the exploited killing joke
admittedy britain does ahve some terrible bands
im not trying to name drop merely support british punk

Oh, my world. It is ok

this album is brilliant, whoever fucking reviewed is has done it no justice, and why the fuck has no-one said anything about cousin cletious! the song is amazing, pure genius! And the reason it's got so many hits is because it's so fucking good, and the reviewer is so fucking shite! there is no opp-ivy feel, an if there was, u'd have to cross them with the filaments(also, fucking rule). longstory short, Capdown=good
    reviewer=shite
    allright? good:)

    Dear Scott Heisel,
move on with your life. to me it seems you eagerly look for opportunities to jump in and defend yourself when no one cares. pathetic. you should worry about your business and other people will worry about theirs. you really dont know when to drop it. you are struggling to continue a pointless arguement that doesnt involve the people viewing it. do it somewhere else cause no one wants to read it on any forums. grow up and get out. i personally dont like your site only signed up to post this. i will not return again or ever recommend it to someone. if your posts are to recruit people to your site im afraid its doing the exact opposite. just letting you know its getting old.

    threechordsandthetruth (March 2, 2004)

    shitty review.

    Anonymous (February 17, 2004)

I have this album, and I don't listen to it enough. These guys are Fantastic. And they are most certainly a Live Band.

I've had the chance of seeing them play three times. Once infront of about 100 people, then another time infront of 500 people and then infront of about 800 people. And at every single show they played as if their lives counted on it. I know a couple years ago they calculated that by the end of the year they had played an average of 5 days a week non stop throughout the whole year!!!... and mostly in the U.K., to keep up playing so many shows in such a small country takes alot of fan base and true fans. And these guys most certainly have them all over the U.K.!!!

POOR LIVE!!!! What do you define as good then? Everytime I've seen this band (only 3 times) they have ruled and had so much energy and considering they tour like bastards that's saying something.

    Anonymous (November 19, 2003)

    good band, poor live.

    Anonymous (October 2, 2003)

i had a friend that moved here from england for a couple years and she exposed me to this band. i liked the music for the most part, but i just found the guys voice to be a little grating.

    Anonymous (August 19, 2003)

    Bitches and Nike Shoes=awesome

    Anonymous (August 12, 2003)

    Thats a damn good idea...

    Anonymous (August 7, 2003)

How hard would it be to make the hit counter only register a hit from an IP address once, otherwise this is just stupid.

    gazbud (July 26, 2003)

good album, they seem to be touring the UK constantly - fucking excellent live.

But now they've signed to a major label. Kinda ironic for a band whose name is an abbreviation for 'capitalist downfall'. Punk rock indeed.

    Anonymous (July 24, 2003)

Scored this album off a certain well known ftp site as I could not find it anywhere! I gotta say its great. Bitches and Nike Shoes has such a great hook.

    Anonymous (June 26, 2003)

do people have nothing better to do with their lives than put 30,000 hits on a review?
It's pathetic, you'd be better off dead.

get a job or a girlfriend or go outside once in a while.
This review list is a joke.

I saw them in Edinburgh a couple of years ago with Goober Patrol. They completely killed. I wasn't a fan of this album, but I'd definitely pay to see them again.

    harg (March 31, 2002)

This album is cool if you can pick it up cheap say at a gig but its all a bit identical except with the anthem ska wars which is a great british punk song. Capdown really bust ass live though.

    Anonymous (September 17, 2001)

fucking quality album. great to see a british band doing something other than playing the local scene 10 times a month! cant wait for the new lightyear album. oh by the way, my freind patrick is ignoring his girlfreinds calls. who else thinks he's being a dick?

    Anonymous (August 7, 2001)

They are fucking incredible live, but this album is really patchy. Positivity and Ska Wars are the best songs, but songs like Kained But Able just plain suck
