I think all the stoopid cds are good. also, the comment about badfish crew is right on. they are one of the best bands around. Also, badfish crew is not the same as ripoffs as badfish sublime tribute band.

I don't mind SS so much, but both times I've seen them they've been upstaged by their opening acts, the first time by Bargain Music and last time by Fishbone (who should've been the headliner).

I liked a few songs on this album, but overall, it really disappointed me. I think they tried to break into the mainstream with this one and it flopped. Longet Barrel Ride is a great album..the acoustic one is pretty good, too. I've seen them many times and they didn't change their setlist very often and tried to do some corny hip hop numbers. I think they do great dub songs and should stick to thost.

I've heard a few songs off their new one and the song with Barrington Levy is really good IMO.

If you like the dub/reggae sound, check out Badfish (Crew?) I DL'd their album called 'Soundbwoy Killas' and they truly stick to the dumb/reggae genre, and unlike S.S., they have some great horn parts..and they do it well. Unfortunately, I saw they are coming to my town this month but the tour is called "Badfish: a tribute to sublime"...come on....please play your own songs.

I like people who end their comments with "Peace".
I just get this image of some really selfsatisfied dude who really feels he ripped someone a new asshole with his awesome on-line comment. In all reality it dosen't matter if the band sounds anything like Sublime, they don't sound good and the certainly don't sound like a 10 out of 10. And isn't that what the bottom line should be?

Some of you guys are real dumbasses. So this isn't their best album. But it deserves atleast 3 stars for having some damn good individual tracks like "Mellow Mood". So they through together a quick album during a transition period without a drummer. If you haven't heard "Longest Barrel Ride", "Acoustic Roots", or !!!"Closer To The Sun"!!! you really have no right to talk shit about this band. They are not a "Sublime Rip-off" and they are not from Florida dumb shit. They were discovered by Bradley and he worked with them on their first album. Learn some history and listen to their other albums before talking shit. Peace.

Are you kidding me? That had to be the most boring version of the song I've ever heard. And I seriously doubt that any John Denver fans are even aware of this atrocity. I don't understand how this recived a perfect score. I'll assume you were high when you wrote this. But that's still no excuse for a perfect score.

I'm weird, I used to have this small circle of friends who would one minute be driving down the road listening to NAUSEA and later be in some room getting high to sublime ,mad lion and Marley! I think slightly stoopid are really fun. I think sublime are great, not nearly as important as alot of people would have you believe but good chill out music

I just think that user reviews should be checked over by someone before they get posted. I know that Brian already spell checks them and such, so you know he reads through this shit. When something as obviously undeserving as this (or say...i dunno...A PERFECT SCORE FOR FUCKING TWELVE TRIBES) is submitted, it should just be canned for sheer stupidity. It would make people who arent staff have to work harder and not just slap a 10 on anything they like.

Although thats more work for Brian i guess and I guess he already has enough...

I have not herd this cd, but i have their newer one Closer to The Sun. I must say that the cd is supprisingly good. Most people are basing their ratings w/o even having herd their music. Score is for the band and their fans

I saw them with Fishbone, and some other band with guys from Dispatch in it, I forget the name, opening. The Dispatch band (which I think had radio in the name) blew, Fishbone were incredible, but the white wannabe-rastas ruined the pit; pushing people on the sides into the pit like assholes. I stayed for 1 and a half songs of this band and then left.

To bands it may concern:
Please don't try to sound like Sublime. We, the people, contrary to what you may think, do not need more bands that sound like Sublime. If we want something that sounds like Sublime, we will listen to Sublime. They were able to strike a balance b/w white/black music that was enjoyable and not overly ridiculous and absurd. Every other band who plays punk/reggae/rap/dub/whatever ends up sucking at all of them. So, please, be kind to your fellow human beings, don't be a douche singing about Jah when you have a trust fund, brand new Gibson guitar, and a big SUV, Bob Marley's Ghost will kill you in your sleep.

I don't know why but this review made me less interested in the band. I mean, it's not a bad review and it gave me an idea of a band I otherwise knew nothing about. But, perhaps knowing more about them makes me like them less.
The concept of more Sublime sort of sickens me. I liked Sublime and think their work is great in doses, but I don't think I'd listen to their whole discography. Likewise I have no urge to listen to an album that sounds like Sublime.
Just from what I read I wouldn't give this album a 10...That's Fresh Fruit for Rotten Vegetables style or even Honkey Tonk Academy or some bad ass album. This doesn't even sound like an album the reviewer would give a 10.

it shit like this. it appears to be a weekly occurrence, someone gives what will in two years be a forgotten release a perfect rating on par with real classics like Damaged, Milo goes to college, london calling etc. i think punknews should consider eliminating accepting submitted reviews from just anyone.

for one, i think poor reviews would be minimized and we could get a decent sense of the importance of any particular album. I bet if you took an average score for every album reviewed on this site it would be pushing 4 stars. i'm sorry, but ive been listening to punk for too long to know that it is an inconsistent genre.

second, we would come to recognize the reviewers in question and understand their tastes as either similar or disimilar to our own and go from there on their recommendations.

so i say just allow staff reviews or somehow separate staff reviews with something more than the simple yellow tag. something like a sort feature where one could browse through only staff given reviews.

im prepared to take a beating on this one, but im just giving my opinion on trying to make this site better because i see its review section getting bogged down with too many five star ratings which are utter bullshit.

A perfect ten!?!? You've gotta be kidding me. Maybe "The Longest Barrel Ride", but not this cheesy drum-machine-and-acoustic-guitar mangled mess. Out of the whole album, there are only like 4, maybe 5 really good songs: Perfect Gentleman, Officer, Sweet Honey, Punk Rock Billy and maybe Wiseman. If you want to hear a good Slightly Stoopid cd, I suggest The Longest Barrel Ride. This album is mostly silly white rap.

If only they didnt have one of the most idiotic band names...how can you take their music seriously?
They used to be some run of the mill late-90's 'ska' band and they were obviously 13 at that time...now their music grew up, but the name still conjures up images of freshmen in hs.

Although this band is popular amongst sublime fans (like myself), I still find the lyrics to be a bit cornball and fluffy at points. (IE: the acoustic album) But still, reggae/ska/punk is just great music (unless you're into mindless hardcore) and i'll take anything along those lines with artistic merit.
