Amy Millan does not sing Swimmers, it is Emily Haines, who has been in the band for years, Amy doesnt actualy have any "lead" vocals, so yeah.... fyi nah, that's just your coheed and cambodia cd that you just bought. wahhhh do i hear a baby crying yepppp...it's all "Girly pants, ugly glasses, and pretentiousness" for you now. nahhh nope right. nope wrong worst intro ever. what are you so afraid of? "oh, boo hoo, hipster this, hipster that." fuck, you are more hipster and pretentious than any of 'em. I like that coke machine glow site. The list for "top 12 songs on OK Computer" is fucking hilarious. I never understood the hate on Pitchfork. Well maybe people got pissed that they do some gimmick reviews (well, used to), and rag on shit like The Mars Volta. But, seriously, their reviews are well written and cover huge range of music. They are based in indie, sure, but that doesn't stop them from writing accurate and smart reviews for ska, hip hop, modern pop, avant garde... basically everything. ""Is "7/4 Shoreline" bragging about the time signiture?" This band was absolutely amazing live, and while most of the new stuff sounded great live I can't really get into this cd. Pitchfork Sucks. They did a feature review for the new Destiny's Child Greatest Hits Collection. Fuck Pitchfork. yeah dude you definitely have pitchfork's balls all over your face Um, Death Cab DID release an album this year, and you hate Pitchfork? I'll admit that I'm a regular Pitchfork reader, and that list seems ripped straight from their website. OK...Thanksgiving is over. We can now officially start discussing the Best albums of 2005. Honestly I think the year was pretty lame. Myspace got Big! But Fuck Myspace. Pitchfork still sucks. Not that 2004 was anything special but 2005 will be remembered for few things. To my knowledge Death Cab didnt release an album this year and those Deluxe albums (who the fuck buys them) Say Anything! Alkaline Trio! Senses Fail! werent released either. I love torrent files and I still hate paying for music. "If one were to examine the year-end reviews of any hipster indie fanzine, you would probably find the same album up top of all of them; yes, ironically, it is the album in question here." this is okay if you like that sort of thing nothing spectacular I prefer music but I'll take a Crimpshrine record instead I guess I'm probably one of the below mentioned 'pitchfork fanboys' but even so I really find this to be the most overrated band ever. I want to like it. I like Feist and Stars. But I just can't get into BSS. They aren't bad per se, but they just don't entertain. That cover art makes me think of End Hits for some reason. "Is "7/4 Shoreline" bragging about the time signiture? I teach drums to 6th graders who can bust out 7/4. You just have to be able to count to 7. congratulations." No wonder the band took three years between albums. They must have guessed that some people would almost be hoping this album would be a failure. I have followed the band pretty closely and haven't noticed any swelled heads. It would be nice if people celebrated their success and were happy there is a group willing to experiment, instead of making snide remarks about them. Are some people a little bit jealous? It's easy to do the same old thing over and over if it is successful the first time, but it takes courage to go in a new direction. "Ironically" is misused in the intro. again. Stars suxors Better than Black Flag, Minor Threat, and Circle Jerks combined. especially one as good as shoreline Try writing a good pop tune in 7/4. Is "7/4 Shoreline" bragging about the time signiture? I teach drums to 6th graders who can bust out 7/4. You just have to be able to count to 7. congratulations. "Ironically" is misused in the intro. again. bring on the duff. Finally you guys review a good record. I wonder whats next...My Morning Jacket, Hold Steady, The New Lows....Surprise Me Again! Hansel, so hot right now. Hansel. this album is very good but i really don't like "It's all Gonna Break". the pitchfork interview with them was really interesting. I liked this intros review cuz its completely fucking true. I just heard them on the CBC indie radio podcast and was all like "damn" I'm checking this out. He beats women too. PSSSSSHHHHHH Kirby doesn't dress better than me. Have you not seen his baseball card? "Marlon had a conversation with me the other day about who in our Punknews crew is the most fashionable. Did I win or am I not part of the crew. I better have won. *crosses fingers* Marlon had a conversation with me the other day about who in our Punknews crew is the most fashionable. This album is pretty good. At first it seemed to be a huge disappointment, but after some time it really grows. It's pretty easy to hate this band, but they really deserve a chance. Marlon wears girls jeans. There's nothing on this album as good as Cause=Time, but 7/4 comes damn close. Good album all around. I should proofread f'real. For some reason I just can't get into this like I did with YFIIP. That album had a perfect sequencing of soft songs and heavy songs, sparse and cluttered. The biggest difference I notice is the use of strings. They're on BSS, but it just doesn't really add all that much. When the strings show up on Anthems for a 17-Year Old Girl and Pitter Patter Goes My Heart show up, it transforms the song from a whimsical pop song to a beautiful masterpiece. I've always been under the impression that girly pants were for scenesters? This is a great album... I can't believe you said 'Superconnected' doesn't add anything to the album, it's the best track on there for me. Reminds me alot of 'Teen Age Riot' - Sonic Youth. Great song. There's so much depth to this CD and it's a difficult CD to wrap your head around when you listen to it. Just when you think you figure a song out, you hear something else that fucks you up. It's awesome. I need to pick this up, I loved You Forgot It In People, Pitchfork fanboys or not. SOMETIMES they're right. Feel Good Lost is so damn good. I bought this cause everybody raved about this band, i thought it was rather boring, then I put Naked Raygun on my stereo and that was real classy "This is quite possibly the most overrated band ever." All of their shows are like that. Really good album. No one likes this as much as You Forgot It In People, but its really a different beast. Its more poppy, but at the same time its a bit of a grower. I'm actually starting to like this even more than YFIIP, it's way more cohesive. This is quite possibly the most overrated band ever. ok I'm seeing them twice in January! And this record was a big disappointment, but they're still good live. haven't ehard this. sounds like a pitchfork record. |
