I don't know, I don't think I wrote anything too harsh... It's just hard for me to take it when people who aren't ready to try and understand art begin to judge it. It sucks as much as reading Britain's "Top 100 movies of all time" list... Which was a fucking joke, and a travesty.

It seems like stupidity and standardized entertainment are in vogue over there... They would have to be to put "Fight Club" anywhere near a Top 100 list, let alone the "top ten."

You know Crooky, there would be no agrument neccesary if you would just recognize the fact that if something isn't your taste it doesn't mean it sucks. Be a little more open minded. No one is really right or wrong when it comes to music, but you can at least show some respect.

Please quit trying to decide peoples' tastes- It's clear that the concept of art is foreign to you... First of all, you cannot say how this sounds without listening to it. Lots of people find grind and hardcore honestly catchy (I know I do) and in an odd way, danceable. It's not the kind of catchiness that you find in The Beatles or your pop punk, but it is hooky- Most grind bands are creating much more than a blur of noise. Look at early Napalm Death or Carcass- Unless you dismiss it for its sheer speed, you can't say that the change-ups, contrasts and riffs aren't at least interesting.

Secondly, don't pretend that just because you're too lazy to try to understand noise-rock and experimental music, that anyone who does is kidding themselves. Art isn't made to be enjoyed, it's made to make a statement, and if you don't get that, you truly missed the point of that whole "punk rock" thing. Just because you're afraid of anything that's not nice and smooth and happy as sunshine doesn't mean that that's all that there really is to art.

Thirdly, if you're going to try to say grind doesn't have enough depth to be "art," look at how much work this band puts into making their songs. If you play any instrument at all, you'd probably be able to appreciate that aspect of it.

And I never said "any band influenced by Op Ivy sucks," I said that the third wave copycat bands are non-artistic. Bring something new to the table, please.

Man, proof if proof be needed that BSD dosen't have a taste in music, and just likes whatever is considered "different" or "classic".

"Op Ivy rulez, but any band influenced by them dosen't". And i'm sure in the past you've described the Bosstones as pop-punk with horns or something, showing you can change your tastes whenever you need to agree with someone.

You know what else? So called "impressionism" and "expressionism" dosen't interest me at all, but at least some of it looks nice. This doesn't sound good, no matter how many times you grit your teeth and listen to it, and to me, sounding good is just what music should do.

I'd quite like to know what you consider "3rd wave ska", because if you mean bands like the Suburban Legends or shit like that, i don't listen to it, and i've got a funny feeling you don't know what the fuck you're talking about.

Ugh, i wish i hadn't bothered writing that now. Anyhow, this shit sucks. Grind is the worst genre ever to be created.

Your tastes must be pretty bland if you think music that isn't instantly palatable and bubble-gummy is bad... It shows that you have no appreciation for art. I'd compare it to someone who doesn't think of expressionism, impressionism or surrealism as "real art."

And GreenVandal, I'd definitely give anything else by DA a chance. This CD doesn't have enough of them, but their actual albums are unpredictable and very fun to listen to. The guitarist does some very interesting stuff, and while it may not be the soundtrack to a mid-90's teen movie that Crookie is looking for, he is not without his fair share of memorable hooks.

JoeG, I have nothing against The Bosstones. They came before the real Third Wave thing, which I blame on Op Ivy (still a good band). Third Wave Ska in general is okay, but it's the most repetetive, unremarkable musical movement of recent times- I wouldn't even call it art.

You never colored outside the lines when you were a kid did you crooky? I also have a feeling that the crazy ass 64 color ass box ( ya know, the one with the sharpener built into it) scared you and you much prefered the 8 pack. Just more random assumptions.

I've been listening to this record non-stop since I got it. I love it! great to see a review on here, Punknews is getting better with the good bands

DA is absolutely the shit!
melt banana is my wet dream. one of the best live bands EVER!!!! they're touring in europe soon so all you blokes go see em.
Dave, the drummer for DA, burt by the sun, and Melt Banana(stae side) is a really nice guy and one helluve a drummer.
all thats left to say is Discordinant Axis rules and i love em.

Aren't a lot of these previously released? I know there was a split with Melt Banana where they covered each other's stuff.
