August Burns Red's Solid State debut, Thrill Seeker, is a straight up metalcore release that follows every single rule in the book of metalcore. I don't really know if that it is a good or bad thing, as the band is young enough that they could eventually bring some creative ideas to the mix. And while the lack of originality is present throughout the entire album, they do earn some credit for doing what they do better than a lot of other bands in the genre.

band is crazy This album is a great listen, I dont agree with basher mcgee in the review, This band is great and they deserve a decent review. Screw the fact that they are young and have potential. This album compares with albums of hardcore pioneers like In Flames and Unearth and those sweedish type bands out there. Who ever said breakdown are breakdowns, are wrong...Every band does breakdownz...Thats where originality should be at it's full potential. August Burns Red might need a bit of improvement there...But that's it. I personnally think they we're just having fun writting them and didn't pay much attention to being labelled. I'm no writter or reviewer but I can tell you this. If you like hardcore/punk you'll like this, it's melodic and has a good groove to it. The musicians are talented and "yes" they do have potential to being a "super" band, but then again...All bands do. lol @ best metalcore album ever. I'd say that this band is better than BTBAM in comparison to Alaska but not The Silent Circus. TSC kicks ass and I don't care WHAT you say. oh and to compare august burns red to misery signals is an insult. august burns red is fucking awesome with the transitions, riffs, and breakdowns and misery signals is on the opposite end of the spectrum. they suck ass Hey, this is the best metalcore album ever. So shut the fuck up, asshole. The one thing that BTBAM lacks, is the ability to create a visual surrounding with their music. It's not a constant onslaught of music with crazy riffs, it's very empty sounding and kind of depressing. By the way, that was the ONLY comment I had posted.. And yes, Between the Buried and me is awesome, I listened to alaska once and the silent circuis twice yesterday while at work.... But they're not half as polished as ABR. I bought it, and loved it, I listen to anything from further seems forever to converge to ed gein and everything inbetween. You have to truly appreciate instrument technicality to understand a band, and when you can't do that, ( aka liking bands that play shitty metal and just growl into the mic with their shitty megadeth hair over their eyes ) then you won't like this album whatsoever. I've been listening to some post hardcore recently, but when I decide to listen to some metalcore I'm gonna be listening to God Forbid. You can all eat my asshole if you hate these fellas, sweet fuckin tunes, saw them last month and they tore shit up....... I still listen to this cd all the way through about 3 times a week, I am sorry you are missing out So do you still listen to this now? It haven't even played a few songs straight through in a long time. 'A shot below the belt' makes up for any track isn't so great. Trying to make fun of the music someone enjoys is like saying that their favorite color is stupid. Think about it...make sense yet? If not, you are retarded in the most literal sense of the word. If everything were about originality, there would be one metal band. At least they're extremely good at doing the thing. Nodes of Ranvier, Sinai Beach etc. for a debut, i give this a 9.5 out of 10, because no cd is perfect. as i lay dying has been my favorite band for years, but once they put out Shadows are Security, it seems as if they have been slacking off, doing the same riff the entire way through the songs. then Thrill Seeker came out, and I ordered it the night i saw the e-card. i have been happy ever since, because NO band sounds like these guys. so for all you losers on this discussion board who like punk and emo, go slit your wrist you stupid cutters. ABR is better than all of your crap you have no freakin clue what you're talking about. they have very complex riffs and their drummer is extremely talented. it seems like this gay website gives all these amazing cd's horrible reviews. punk is dead and no one on here has any idea what they are talking about. but then again i guess you all listen to stupid bands like AFI and Hawthorne Heights. the epitamy of retarded bands new as in Zao album... That wasnt really BD from Maiden, it was used in the review for humor and to help describe how bland they are. it comes as no surprise to me that iron maiden wouldn't like this band. i don't care. i probably disagree with iron maiden about many things. Look back to the Punk news top of 2004 lists by staff, a lot of people have the Bad Relgion album as one of the best of the year, one or two have it as a disappointment. Bad Relgionis talented, so are those one or two staff extremly sad or should just quit know? No one is saying you are a idiot for not liking them. But you are supposed to Rewiew the cd on the music and how good it sounds, I don't like Emo, but I can say that the cd is good for a Emo band, I could tell the talent and stuff. I agree with the other drummer, I play the drums to, and this drummer is amazing, the guitar playing is sweet sounding, and the vocals are better then most metal bands, and he doesn't have the same yell all the time. If you like innovative metal listen to PIG DESTROYER, ION DISSONANCE, CANDIRIA, PSYOPUS, BEHOLD... THE ARCTOPUS, CROTCHDUSTER. If you like re-packaged clones listen to Martyer AD, almost any band on Victory Records except BTBAM, Dean Martin, and yes August Burns Red. I like the album artwork this review is bad, although they have a really dumb name this band is really good.
