Alkaline Trio's Hell Yes 7" is absolutely amazing, and both songs are two of the best that the band has made, period.

haha i agree with the guy below me. Alkaline Trio, Against Me! and Teenage Bottlerocket are some of my favorite bands. chinatown don't know shit! if i were to guess i would say that chinatown is some dick that walks around with a retarded green mowhawk, a retarded leather jacket that has retarded studs and patches all over it, that gos to retarded shows of bands like the exploited and leftover crack. maybe you should stop worshiping bands form 77 now... they're dead, original punk is dead... ucking accept it! this band is one of the best around now along with Against Me! and Teenage Bottlerocket. Chinatown's got a point. After Maybe I'll Catch Fire all of matts songs sound the same. I think they could of ended their career after good mourning and I would of been happy. Dan needs to start Tuesday back up. while we're at it...chris or bren in the lawrence arms..ill say chris has the gems bren has the sing along favorites that all can enjoy. i definitely gotta go for chris throughout ghost stories (minus chicago is burning my personal fav song) yuo can get both these songs off comps. this is one of my all time fav. alk3 songs! it fucking rocks! Ugh...I hate everything this band has recorded aside from their contribution to R-A-B Vol. 1. here are my favorites: "Skiba makes this band, and it would not be Alkaline Trio without him. Whereas, I think the band could easily go on minus Andriano" My favorite Dan song is "She Took Him To The Lake" and my favorite Matt song is "Goodbye Forever." On any given day either could be my favorite Alkaline Trio song. However, I think Scruffy is right. The two compliment each other extremely well because their voices are so different. Same with Chris and Brendan from The Lawrence Arms or, although I'm bound to get flak for this, Mark and Tom from Blink182. I haven't heard Dan's solo split, but Matt's kicks a lot of ass... Well, if you count the percentage of Dan's songs that are sweet versus the percentage of Matt's, Dan scores higher. Dan may not write as many, but sometimes Matt writes too many. ...and if it would have been on From Here to Imfirmary, I would be calling that the best record ever made by anyone at any time. dans got some gems: I don't see how you could argue that Dan's contributions are as good or better than Skiba's. First of all, the ratio of Skiba songs to Andriano's is about 4 to 1. With that few to choose from, Dan's would have to be pretty amazing for you to rate them higher than Skiba's, but most of them are mediocre and forgettable. He does have the occasional gem, but most are average at best. i have these songs on my version of from here to infirmary its the UK version. I slapped myself in the face, but it didn't change anything. Sorry. somevody review the remastered crimson demo cd for christs sake. Anyone who said Dan's songs are better than Skiba's needs to give himself a good slap in the face. Right now. DO it. Both of these songs are two of the best Trio songs recorded, hands down. They were put on various comps and also on the import version of one of their full-lengths I believe, so tracking them down shouldn't be too hard. Hell yes=one of the best Trio songs ever. They play it so well at shows as well. I am very fortunate to own this. I got Dan and Matt to sign it too! In a public post website... Does it really matter if you use shitty grammar or gramaticlly correct english? Seriously. As for the 7'.hmmmm Skiba has some gems on his side aswell. "Hell Yes" happens to be one. Two excellent songs. you can see why hell yes was cut. Very formulaic. The b-side is better fare, dan turning in another better effort. Oh no! Someone who was smart enough to waste their college education becoming an English major is mad at you Scott! "Hell Yes" is still only alright in my book; it's definitely not their best work but it's not their worst, either. I'm pretty sure you can get this off of Interpunk. That's what I did around this time last year. "Standard Break" doesn't do it for me at all, but "Hell Yes" is one of my favorite Alkaline Trio songs. if you read, i didn't say that no swearing=waste of talent This really isn't that good. Not using profanity does not equal "waste of talent" "Hell Yes" is still only alright in my book; it's definitely not their best work but it's not their worst, either. hell yes is weak and poppy i own this 7". these were two kick ass b-sides from the infrmary sessions. I remember when this band was good, about 3 albums ago 5 stars? standard break from life sounds like a green day song from warning. standard break from life rules. and i have this 7" too. but no record player. oh well. I enjoyed "Hell Yes" in 9th grade. I'd rather listen to "Hell Yes" by Beck. I think Hell Yes is one of their best songs - and the UK version of FHTI is definitely better for having it. A review from a 7 inch usually doesn't get that much attention...unless it's from a shit band like this. both songs were on the uk version of FHTI which made a better ending to the cd i think Never got into either one of these songs right away, but once "My Standard Break From Life" was first released on CD (the Plea For Peace/Take Action! 2001 comp), it sat with me a lot more and ended up being one of my favorite Danny songs (the acoustic version floating around on the net from the Very Milky Christmas show is worth hearing, too). "alk3 needs a b-sides and rarities disc pronto." - Colin 1st: Dan's songs have always been the best...save a couple of Skiba songs off the first two albums... Damn this review is enthusiastic but both songs really are fantastic. never liked "my standard break from life" and i fucking love this band hell yes is one of the few alkaline trio songs I like. score is for me actually owning this. Wow, those are some bold statements my friend. I actually think that "My Standard Break From Life" is kind of weak. i'm starting to like dan's songs more than matt's |
