| Colin Meloy / Laura Veirslive in Seattle2006 live show Review by: Archangel See others by this writer The Decemberists (link) Only registered users can post comments Published on January 24th 2006
Let me preface this review by stating, here and now, that Colin Meloy is the frontman of the Decemberists. You're all welcome to disregard what I have to say about the show because it "belongs on Pitchfork" or is "too boring" or "not the Lawrence Arms." The rest of you, though, may be interested in Colin Meloy's solo performance.

The Tarkio material has just been rereleased by Kill Rock Stars and you can buy it for $15. It's two discs, so that's not a bad price. check out tarkio...i think he put out an ep and an lp under that band name before the decemberists started...of course, you probably knew that already This folk shit is all the rage. I don't see how it has anything to do with punk. I am seeing this on thursday and am very excited. I saw the Decemberists back in October and it was one of the best live shows I saw in the past year. I'm going to see this on Friday when he comes to Philly. I saw The Decemberists in October and it was the best show I'd seen that year and I saw some really good shows too. I dig Laura Veirs' new record. I picked it up on a whim (something i never do) and was plesently suprised. Why isn't this the Lawrence Arms?! No, he's the best. colin meloy is one of the best songwriters in existence right now. This stopped by in Chicago and I couldn't go because I had class til 8:30. Fucking UIC! I would've really liked to see him perform live. I was supposed to go to Portland, but that didn't end up happening. When he played "Red Right Ankle" and "Everyday Is Like Sunday" solo at the Decemberists show that I saw it was really good. well, they're no lawrence arms. this shit belongs on pitchfork. |
