The members of Rilo Kiley have quite the affinity for Americana, and the first month of 2006 is qualifying that wholeheartedly. While RK itself has written three albums of alt-country-infused indie rock, members themselves have participated in side projects that concentrate even moreso on the former of these: vocalist/keyboardist Jenny Lewis with her Americana tributing solo effort (and artist credits hopefully parodying Gwen Stefani and her Harajuku Girls, not flashing the beginnings of a new, strange trend), and vocalist/guitarist Blake Sennett and drummer Jason Bosel (as well as ex-Ozma bassist Daniel Brummel) with the appropriately titled Sun, Sun, Sun, the second full-length from his band the Elected and followup to 2004's Me First. Although, it should be noted that Lewis even does guest vocals on a few tracks.

saw them live once with that band who iforget the name of that has a tapdancer...the one on team love records...anyway the elected bored me...the other band was great Yes, Jenny Lewis is beautiful. the songs on the myspace are great, i think ill get this this CD is good. so was the last one. i'm kinda surprised i'm not the only one on here who thinks so. Blank Check was a great movie. Too bad I can't view myspaces on this computer. speaking of former child stars. brian bonsel, the kid from "blank check" and also from "Family ties" has a really shitty pop punk band i agree, no one i know has ever heard of this band, but when i play Me First for them they love it. i didn't even know this record came out til yesterday, that definatly brightened up my day. I love Me First but for some reason it seems like no one has ever heard it. It's such a mellow album to just hang around the house to. Pretty good for country/alt. country. "am i the only one completely sick of rilo kiley and their side projects?" i'm enjoying this album I'm not sure Boesel plays on this album, but I may be wrong. am i the only one completely sick of rilo kiley and their side projects? He still looks and sounds exactly the same too, it's crazy. sometimes i have to stop listening because of it. Jones - He played Joey the Rat. "Me First" was sweet. I'll pick this up. which boy meets world guy is in this band? Obligatory "this guy was in Boy Meets World and Salute Your Shorts" post. |
