I just have to say, the Bellrays have me really, really confused. How many times have you heard a large, soulful black woman sing for a punk band? I didn’t think so. But oddly enough, or maybe not, maybe I shouldn’t be surprised, but this band really knows how to bring the rock.

I have their Raw Collection...I don't mind this band I just cannot get into them as I think I have listened to that album twice since I got it during the summer. The Barfly stage is about 3 metres wide... not too hard to cover every inch. these guys are fucking great. incrediblie live show. This band is pretty much totally awesome. The MC5 as fronted by Aretha Franklin. Bad ass. That about covers it. Wow, that sounds pretty cool. I'd heard the name before but never knew anything about their music. The way you describe it, they're not so much a true punk band, as they are a woman singing (I guess) more rockin' soul songs, who happens to be backed by a punk band. Is that sort of close to accurate? I'm going to kick my own ass if I miss seeing them play in the Bay Area again. It has been two times since I got into them...Once more and I offcially suck at being a fan. They played at my work a month or 2 ago... they didn't play anything that sound too much like punk, but I'd more categorize it as aggressive soul/funk. | Features
