Anyone that has followed the career of Andrew W.K. knows that he can be a very odd, but clever individual. On top of this, he’s all about having fun, which you’ve got to love him for. This of course, is on top of his immense musical talent.
It is my absolute honor/privilege/responsibility and my job, to make as many people feel good as possible. We don’t have fans; we have friends. These are the greatest days of my life, and all they are revolving around is the intensity of so many friends. Life’s too short. Everyone’s invited to this party; it doesn’t matter who you are, what you look like, what you taste like, what you act like, what you like, what you don’t like -- if you like you -- if you like things in general -- if you’re happy to be here, come inside.Andrew W.K. and his music are things that simply make you feel good, and this DVD is a testament to that. Despite a few of its oddities (which aren’t necessarily flaws, but just some things I haven’t figured out), it is definitely something worth checking out for any fan. There are a few bonus features, including backstage-type scenes that were cut, and a few other extra scenes, but they aren’t things you’ll find yourself going back to more than once. i drove from ohio to nyc to see this at that theatre, and it was so worth it both nights. I saw a screening of this in New York... it's absolutely fun and hilarious. His parents sat in front of us and we're really nice and totally cool and didn't mind that we were wasted. "Ted Leo > Andrew WK" To clarify my earlier comments.. Anchors.... wait.... am I your friend? Ted Leo > Andrew WK My friend went to see Andrew WK, and met him afterwords, and AWK recorded my friends voicemail. So every time you call the kid you hear HEY, THIS IS ANDREW WK TAKING A BREAK FROM PARTYING HARD TO TELL YOU MIKE CAN'T COME TO HIS PHONE or something like that. Andrew W.K. is one of the greatest human beings alive, I'm sure of it. *taps AWK armband* Top fucking notch. I love this man. AWK is everything that is right and good in the world. Dude is really, really fun live. its a bummer to always see people rag on so many mediocre and decent bands and are alway shitting on everything in the comment sections, but its refreshing to see people coming together to show support for the truly exceptional. I would say his musical talent IS immense. The part where he plays I get wet in a cramped apartment on a piano and plays the vocal lines on piano with the music is amazing. He's a super nice guy too. The video is synch-stacked which means they took board feeds from 3 live shows and mixed them all together, it makes for a HUGE live sounds and it wasn't too choppy like all the Tribal Bad Religion videos come out. The artsy stuff is weird but the live footage makes the video well worth it. I've watched this video at least 4 times and I still think it's great... I went to the screening in New York of "Who Knows" and was completely blown away by how inspiring Andrew W.K. is as a musician and a human in general. He is very talented and constantly challenging all norms and fears. I find his music to be very empowering and the DVD to be very entertaining. I highly recommend it! Cuz he blows. It's cool that he's nice, though. i still remember the first time i saw him i had no clue what the fuck was going on. i think the first video had just come out and the album wasn't due out for a few weeks. i left completely confused by what i had just witnessed. then about a week later i got the album was like "ah, now i get it..." the time after that when i saw him (think he headlined over the lost prophets and some shitty nu-metal band) it was incredible and has been everytime i've seen him since. the guy seriously doesn't get the respect he deserves. If you dislike AWK, you have no soul. Pie bald - ball pen pretty much the greatest man to ever live. and i seriously mean that. The score is for his 100% accurate understanding of the name piebald. Also.... plenty of the things he says are just downright confusing. His musical talent actually IS immense. There's a rather impressive scene in the film where he's just sitting, playing a piano, and it might be the most rocking moment on the DVD. Fear Factory sucks. I have a friend who introduced me to them and one of their albums was ok. They have this one CD where it's all this horseshit about "what if machines take over the world, blah blah blah". They once did a rap song with Cypress Hill that had lyrics "back the fuck up" and the singer is 100% nu-metal. I saw them with my friend and they had their stage dudes tune all their shit and took 40 minutes to come out and play. Fuck Fear Factory. What kind of name is Fear Factory anyways? Where they thinking that name would be cool? this guy changed my life, for the better Best live act you'll ever see. I swear. I wouldnt exactly say his musical talent is immense... this dude (Mr WK) knows what it's all about. rocking out to the max, and not having some stupid attitude problem. |
