ATTN: Skylines.

You are not Every Time I Die.

Try as you might to be Every Time I Die, the most that people are going to see you as is “that band trying to rip off Every Time I Die.” Kind of ironic that the album name is Identity, because this band couldn’t be further from having one of their own.

If you were to take Hot Damn! and a touch of singing, and make the lyrics worse, the result would undoubtedly be this record. It's just lacking any sort of creative capacity. The riffs, while not inventive in the slightest, are hard-hitting and feature enough variation to not be annoyingly repetitive. They do use a lot of the same tones and stylistic elements that ETID made a trademark with, and it’s especially noticeable in a track like “The Pugilist’s Lament,” a song that also borrows heavily from the lyrics of the aforementioned record.

The band's vocalist even sounds a ton like Keith Buckley, especially when spouting lines like “Ice cold killers, dressed to the nines in white tuxedos / Ready to sell…razor sharp lapels sever / The strings of forgiveness, and light the fires of hell." The song itself is rather uneventful, save for some random heavy riffs that inject some life into what’s an otherwise boring track.

While the review does come off as being rather harsh, this really is not all that bad of a record. In fact, if ETID had never existed, I’d find myself enjoying this quite a bit. But why listen to a band that sounds like Every Time I Die, when you can just go listen to Every Time I Die?

oh my god, soooo mannnyyy of you are little bitches WHO CARES WHAT FUCKING FONT THEY USED jesus is this aim here, OH DEAR ATREYU USED THAT FONT IN THEIR CD, SO DID OPETH you guys are fagets for knowing what bands use what FONT.

Dude, shut it. It's extremly obvious that people know that font (typeface). It's used all over the place, so it's only inevitable.

But funny thing, Atreyu did it first.

WOW... who ever reviewed this album is a complete idiot. It sounds NOTHING like every time I die. Secondly, while its not all that original its still good music that sounds more like scarlet than anything else. And in my opinion if you sound anything like SCARLET than you are freaking AMAZING!!!

    hypervioletsucks (March 17, 2006)

this band is fucking terrible. the guitar sounds copy/pasted and like someone who doesn't know how to play trying to mimic Jane Doe riffs.

the screamer also has no depth or tone, and the lyrics suck. review sums up fine in my opinion.

    crazytoledo (March 17, 2006)

That Porcelin font (or typeface) is also used for the title of songs above the lyrics in the CD booklet for Opeth's latest CD.

ok first of all who does the reviews for this. I mean seriously that has to be the worst review i have ever read. This album sounds nothing like everytime i die, and the lead singer sounds nothing like them either. Yes like the guy said down below this band resembles scarlet. Granted scarlet went the route of a little more metal where this album goes a little more of the way of hardcore. I mean seriously am i wrong? If you dont like this album for whatever reason thats cool, but saying it sounds like etid makes me think that you either never actually listened to the album or you dont know what you are talking about. And if the second of the two is right then why are you doing reviews in the first place?

    crazytoledo (March 15, 2006)

    or a font...

Some sites label it either way.

So people can use it either way.

This font needs to GO AWAY gaaaaahhhh

As a graphic designer, seeing it all over the place to brand emo/screamo/blah blah blah over and over makes me sick

I downloaded the font off the one site and used in some of my earlier graphic designs and sigs, it's kind of hard to work with, mainly because it's hard to any effects on it since it's thin and it looks to basic as it is, so I don't really use it too much, 'Viper_Nora' is kind of similar (Atreyu's font on first full length).

you assclowns use font..now we know you arent a graphic designer. shut up faux designer.

    Vincent_M (March 14, 2006)

Couldn't they have picked a better band to emulate? I mean, being crap is one thing, you can't help it and you might not even realize it...but trying to be like crap...just sad.

    BlaquacadetZstyles (March 14, 2006)

Yeah, that font and this other similiar one called Ragadund. Gross.

Also, the font used is Porcelin, the same used for Atreyus second album, and some of the Taste of Chaos comps.

    crazytoledo (March 14, 2006)

This band doesn't sound that much like ETID.

There a huge rip off of Scarlet, listen to some of those songs and there exact carbon copies of Scarlet.

    And it's pretty good.

    Ollywood (March 14, 2006)

if its really not all that bad a record, why did you give it a 3. This is an excellent review, score is for the review
