Europe is breeding quite the fertile scene in regards to the harder, more dissonant, raw and intense side of emo, the one whose term has become so "misused" that its meaning may have to begrudgingly be accepted as having altered content. This is why one may avoid using the word as it could place a band in an entirely different context for some readers. Perhaps this is why it's being so inherently revitalized in foreign lands, including Italy, which La Quiete is taking by storm.

Saetia weren't the first band to do "it". saetia are ok, really. no where near as god as everyone says. this cd is the jam, seein them in five days in london, hurrah. second song on here has on of the best guitar break downs in the whole emo/screamo genre, no shit. good breaks. "No mention of In/Humanity or the joke term "emo-violence"?" Palatka is pretty solid, but I don't like much else that gets that description either. i really am not a huge fan of "emo violence" (term used to reference bands that could sound like this) at all Hmm i don't really consider La Quiete a Emo Violence band (not chaotic enough) they are more first wave screamo. About the emo thing, emo wasn't really a joke term, but emo violence was, but then a lot of bands picked up on the word to distinguish themselves from other screamo bands at the time. Check this out it kind of explains it pretty well http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emo_Violence Didn't emo violence go the same way as the term emo itself? As in, it started out as a joke and was eventually coined as a serious subgenre (or in this case, subsubgenre)? No mention of In/Humanity or the joke term "emo-violence"? Saetia never was by any means the best band in the genre. I still love them, even though a lot of people do shit on them now, but they were never the best. I thought this band had broken up... good news for me. NO NO NO NO NO And yes, they're pretty damn good live, better than raein. What's up with hundred thousand people all of a sudden deciding that the "saetia isn't the best band ever anymore, but that la quiete and raein is"? I'm seeing them in Syracuse, they're touring with Phoenix Bodies. Here's a complete list of dates though; Ok so theyre touring east coast this summer. yea shit, where? Anchors, where are you seeing them? La Quiete > Perpetual Motion Machine's roster I can't wait to get this. Nice to see real screamo records getting reviewed. Well done. Excellent first paragraph Brian I'm seeing them in July, words cannot justify my anticipation. Those mp3's suck. I heard so many good things about this band too. The mp3's sound really good. Might have to check these guys out. this is a really good review. very well written. really good band too. this is a great, great band La Quiete is pretty fuckin' cool. I expect a review like this from Anchors. |
