Thrice is determined to have everyone hear their B-sides. Between 2005's If We Could Only See Us Now, iTunes, video games, vinyls, and this EP, Thrice will have released most of their known B-Sides to the public. Is this good or bad?

whoops... i only put one star. that's okay. they did a good cover of Minor Threat's Seeing Red/Screaming at a Wall & for that, they get 2 stars... i really hate my review for this. score is for my writing. "No intensity, no soul and no good songs.....this band (and a million of their copy cats and peers everywhere) should just take a long walk off a short bridge. I want something new and I want it now.....I'm sick of having to watch live shows from the early 80's to get my fix of intensity and raw energy." When will Island drop these guys? No intensity, no soul and no good songs.....this band (and a million of their copy cats and peers everywhere) should just take a long walk off a short bridge. I want something new and I want it now.....I'm sick of having to watch live shows from the early 80's to get my fix of intensity and raw energy. "I think Motion Isn't Meaning is one of my favorite Thrice songs." I think Motion Isn't Meaning is one of my favorite Thrice songs. So is Under a Killing Moon. This band has lost all of its energy and now is on my "used to be one of my favorite bands"list. Seen them two times live in the last 4 months, same set list except for one song and about as go through the motions as ive ever seen. Sad, sad, sad. i give this a 9 just for under a killing moon acoustic alone. I got chills up my spine during this song, its incredible how thrice can consistently adapt their songs even heavier ones perfectly to a chilling acoustic rendition I hate the turn this band made musically, but damn, i must say that the artwork for this EP is fucking awesome. ""strong vocal abilities" " selling out by signing to major labels" Thrice....ewwwww. I HATE it when people call this hardcore....Cause it's not. "Maybe the irony is that their best CD was Identity Crisis and their latest cd IS an Identity Crisis.. oooh deep. hahah" I really miss being able to enjoy this band as much as I used to. Vheissu and IYCOSUN just ruined this band for me, and I really tried to like the new stuff too! How about Russell and Tate: Attorneys at Law? your not part of McMahon and Tate are you? This EP deserves a much higher score. My favorite Thrice song is the acoustic version of Stare At The Sun. Most of the other B-sides they've had have been pretty boring though, nothing even close to the quality of the albums. Maybe the irony is that their best CD was Identity Crisis and their latest cd IS an Identity Crisis.. oooh deep. hahah "I saw this at Best Buy, it had a tag that said "Free w/ any Thrice purchase" but it rings up $0.00 no matter what, so it came free w/ Keasby Nights II for those who want to snag this. Same thing w/ the "Frances the Mute" single from the Mars Volta. Oh, and I didn't mention it in the review, but the first track is pretty Jesus-rocky, as far as lyrical content goes. No one gave me shit for my piss-poor writing? "I hate this band. ""You're wrong. Their new record is dogshit. They uuused to be fun. Now they just want to preach the word of God. I'd have to say that Vheissu is slightly more fun than just reading the bible itself. Slightly." I hate this band. "You're wrong. Their new record is dogshit. They uuused to be fun. Now they just want to preach the word of God. I'd have to say that Vheissu is slightly more fun than just reading the bible itself. Slightly." Why the hell write a review for an album that you already know will suck ass? I always felt this band was way overrated and I never really liked much from them. I would say they are overrated still, but from the looks of it...everybody think's they suck ass now. what hapened to this band? i miss identity crisis! what hapened to this band? i miss identity crisis! Vhiessu sucked ass. "anyway, after completely disliking or not caring about thrice's popularity (thought they were technically proficient but soulless), I have to say the new record is pretty good. its a keeper. Much past their limitations of a hardcore band. It grew on me after sitting it to rot on a shelf, definately one to relisten to if you didn't like it now that some of the press blitz and bullshit has died down" There older B-sides were the best part of the "Hopelessly Devoted To You" comps. Thrice? one listen was bad enough for me. Vehissu was a huge disappointment. I kinda got burned out on Vheissu really quick. I still listen to "Atlantic" and "The Earth Will Shake", probably two of their best songs ever. i believe this is called contractual obligation, and thrice's next record will not be on island. I could be wrong, but this and if we could only see us now smells of hurrying up a set record deal....... i like the old stuff better. so what? i thought this band sounded better fast...oh well. Holy hell I had no idea this existed. I really love Thrice and despite the current musical trend they helped spawn (along with Grade (unless I'm completely missing out on another band(s)...)), I think each one of their releases is unique and completely stands on its own, with Vheissu my own personal favorite. With that said, I also really enjoy their B-sides/rarities. The Christmas songs they had up on theirspace, the Illusion of Safety B-side from that Hopelessly Devoted To You compilation (four, i think), that itunes acoustic set I made a friend download so I can hear it, and the "If We Could Only See Us Now" audio disc are all unbelievable! I'm really looking forward to picking this up this weekend. Vheissu is really good. Vhiessu is far and away their best album Keasbey Nights II? You mean the SM cover, right? Cause if not, I'm gonna go ahead and shoot myself for missing that I saw this at Best Buy, it had a tag that said "Free w/ any Thrice purchase" but it rings up $0.00 no matter what, so it came free w/ Keasby Nights II for those who want to snag this. Same thing w/ the "Frances the Mute" single from the Mars Volta. i just wanted to say that, amongst all this dislike that the band has been receiving as of late I know it was you Thrice. I know it was you. You broke my heart. Thrice is now in my snore-core list. They used to be fast and fun. hey! i wonder if this is crap!!! |
