(Disclaimer: This review is really long as was the show. If you’re like me and mostly concerned with the set lists, feel free to scroll down to the end of the review; they’re about 95% accurate, with the Against Me! one a little shady. As always, criticisms are welcome; onto the review.)

I hate you WilliamMarinovic. wait wait wait.. But the Clash had been around for less than a year when they signed to CBS... It's not like the punk scene back then had any "anti-industry" ethics, either. Most of the original wave of punks bands had nothing to do with anarchy or fringe politics at all. Just to clarify something, I did not mean to imply that Against Me! are better, or more punk than the Clash. I only compared their current SITUATION to that of the Clash before they released on CBS and Alkaline Trio's to that of the old Misfits by detailing the differences between both pairs of bands. Thanks to everyone for their comments and criticisms and a special thanks to those who've read my stuff over the past 3 years. i am so fucking pissed i had to be in fuckign denver when this show came to nj. so fucking pissed. Scruffy, that fucking ruled, dude. I'm here because I'm a fucking icon. People tell me to come here. It's not like I post that much. Fucking Will, dude. Why are you even here? Do you even like music? Well, for your info, I didn't read the review beyond the first couple of paragraphs. scruffy's on a roll. Oh, waitaminute. There is? There is something more in punk than these two bands? These two bands doing somethng cool for their old school fans, instead of only playing the new album and catering directly to the johnny-come-latelies that only have their new album? Quit assuming that I only like broken up bands. Thankfully in the 7 times that I have seen them, I was lucky to hear them play Warbrain and Hell Yes so since the Trio didnt play those songs in Wisconsin, it's no big deal. Yes i realize he said that they didnt't do a traditional encore, i lost that part in the huge review. I just noticed it was in the setlist. Why is it in the setlist? I was at that show and "Radio" wasn't an encore. They played the first 30 seconds of the Misfits "Some Kinda Hate"and it went into "Radio". They didnt play an encore, a band usually leaves the stage to perform an encore, and in this case it was just the last song they played. In all of that blabber oyu could at least get that right. "People who liked this also liked: Sublime" Well, I still listen to Alkaline Trio, and I'm 24. I've listened to stuff like Bad Religion and Ghoti Hook since high school. I don't quit listening to a band I like because I get older. The Alkaline Trio are awesome. by "who listens to..." i meant what kind of people. the only people i see in alkaline trio shirts still are all high school cheerleaders and the average age the last time i saw them was probably close to 15/16. hey i'm just curious if anyone has the setlists for the chicago shows? God damnit. "effect Dan" should read as "affect Dan". I hate when I make a mistake that I see other people make and shake my head at. No way I'll remember the whole setlist from the Royal Oak (detroit) show, but I'm fucking pissed off because I just now realized that they didn't play "Warbrain". That's such an incredible song. I'm really glad, however, that I didn't have to hear "Old School Reasons". I must be the only Trio fan on this site who can't stand that song. I actually wouldn't have minded hearing more off "Crimson" and less from "Good Mourning". Yeah, Will, and enough idolizing bands simply because they broke up before you were born. Too bad that idiot in Against Me! couldn't write The Clash's worst song on the best day of his "career." Old School Reasons from the OIL comp is awesome. who still listens to alkaline trio? honestly? i've seen them four or five times and just like all their cds each time was more of the same, yet somehow crappier. who still listens to alkaline trio? honestly? i've seen them four or five times and just like all their cds each time was more of the same, yet somehow crappier. did anyone get jaked on green beers on this tour? while the review is incredibly well written, it's far too long and filled with clutter that would be more appropriate in an essay. there's a fine line between putting thought and time into a review and overdoing it with ideas not necessarily pertinent to a live show. i can't believe that they played such an awesome set for minnesota, yet sucked it up in chicago. I know that everyone has their favorite songs, but most of the stuff they played in chicago was filler material from their albums. we didn't get the misfit's cover. we didn't get radio. we didn't even get warbrain. wtf? i thought they liked chicago. reviews on this site aren't supposed to contain the faux-intelligent musings of the reviewer. come on now, stop stroking yourself. I'm sorry, but its a horrible review. Don't get me wrong, the effort is nice, and good job with the set lists and all, however it seems as if the author is one of those people who enjoy the sound of their own voice. There is FAR too much irrelevent information, cut it the fuck down. Get to the point, and you would have a good review. The last paragraph is completly irrelvent to this show, and fairly pointless even if it wasn't combined. Against Me had built their MN fanbase by 2003 when they drew 400 kids at the Babylon. They played '97 in Omaha. Best damn time ever. i skipped this show in detroit to watch the pistons play. still not sure if i regret it or not. i don't really like against me much and i've seen alkaline trio back when they were playing those songs regularly so i don't think it had quite the appeal to me that some of the younger kids seemed to get out of it Score's for the review. Nice job, I hope to see more from you. New York's Alkaline set was exactly this, in order, 1-17 and 27-30. Great review. IMO, this is one of the best reviews I've read on this site in a long time How could anyone with any self respect openly admit to like the aquabats??? what an absurd excuse for a band. You've Got So Far to Go AND Old School Reasons? I for one am glad I didnt go to this. The only band that can get me in the Quest is The Aquabats on June 2nd. "how many fucking reviews of this tour are you going to post? I think one would suffice and if people wanted to compare setlists, they could go to the bands board" This was the set list for Hartford: ouch scott that setlist does suck, while it still rules... if the portland kids don't come through some skulls will be bashed. To the anonymous poster below, Alkaline Trio don't have a message board open to the public, so for those of us who want to compare setlists but don't want to pay an arm and a leg to be in their fan club, this is the place to do it. I was at this show. It was indeed good. The review is too long though. Omit the final paragraph. how many fucking reviews of this tour are you going to post? I think one would suffice and if people wanted to compare setlists, they could go to the bands board. detroit didn't get Old School Reasons, either! WHAT THE FUCKING FUCK. Goddammit, you got a Radio encore. I totally wanted to hear that song when I saw them in Hartford-- they played 97 instead though, so I wasn't too bummed. Yeah, they played Old School Reasons and Warbrain there too and I just about flipped out. That's a great Against Me! setlist, but not quite as great as when I saw them as a two-piece years ago. "Be they political or not, independent or major label, as long as punk acts maintain the aforementioned traits and maintain a certain level of ethos, nothing else should really matter." Caught this tour at the Orlando HOB (and didn't see that Plea for Peace t-shirt) -- definitely not to be missed if it comes anywhere near you. The entire first paragraph of this review is laugh-out-loud hilarious. good review...an even better show. go see it if you have the chance At the Orlando show, I was wearing my "Plea For Peace 2000" shirt, some kid (when I say kid I mean about 18 or 19" came up and said "Wow, you actually saw them back then?!" it made me feel really old. I also relaized that Alk3 actually opened for the blue meanies at that show and the Lawrence Arms played fourth (out of nine bands) funny to think about the order the bands would play if the same tour were to take place in 2006! Wow, that comparison at the beginning is pretty bizarre, I never thought of it like that. Whoa. That is indeed an awesome set. I'll be at the leg of this tour featuring the Lawrence Arms in a month... can't fucking wait! I had a blast at the first 2 chicago shows, but missed the last one. awesome in boston. we got a plain backdrop, you got video screens? warbrain? old school reasons? hell yes? wow what a setlist. beats the last night in chicago for sure. i saw it in st. louis. it was fuckin amazing |
