First off, let me say that if you hated the new Catch 22, Permanent Revolution might either make you hate them more or less -- not neccessarily great, but not as bad as made out to be. Dinosaur Sounds had a few good songs on it, but of course was no (and there never will be another) Keasbey Nights.

the album was a good listen but I dont find myself listening to it often, catch22 is a great band but this perticular album just didnt do much for me. Reviewer got the score right, just not a very good description. So I finally heard this album. I will always like the work of C22, alone in the crowd was a masterpiece, and DS was also a very good album, it's a shame they compare C22 with SM, they are different band with different styles, this album is a great add on to my C22 collection! EXCELLENT album. i am pleasantly surprised. good record. if it wasn't for about 2 or 3 filler songs, i'd give it a 9. I really like everything Catch 22 has released, and Alone In a Crowd is better than Keasby Nights. I don't see why that gets so much love when Everything Goes Numb completely destroyed it. "of course was no (and there never will be another) Keasbey Nights." damnit, I gave 6 stars. fair album, but I have to mention that I think dinosaur sounds has the best catch22 song ever on it - untitled. they should play skatepunk with horns. and no vocals. amen. Score is for the review. Don't have the CD yet, maybe I'll pick it up with the new Good Riddance. Am I the only one who thinks "Alone In A Crowd" is actually better than "Keasbey Nights?" This album is 100% filler. I will never understand the cult of Catch 22. "I studied Russian History in high school" Allmusic's review also mentions the "Can You Feel The Love Tonight"-ness of the last song. I can't say, seeing as I haven't heard that song since junior high. Buck-O-Nine - Swimming In Sand Whats going on here who let Tom Kalnoky on the board This album is amazing. Finally redemption for the remnants of Catch 22. This is the first good release post-Keasbey. Dinosaur Sounds, Alone In A Crowd, Washed Up, all horrible. Permanent Revolution 1) has much better sounding horn section and 2) is a concept album, which fits together perfectly. I studied Russian History in high school and they were right on target with Leon Trotsky's life. Good. That's all you have to say. I enjoy this album quite a bit. not keen. in my opinion worse than DS. agree that alone in a crowd was great. would have loved to have keasbey nights with the guitar sounds of alone in a crowd tho these guys? yeah, they're fuckin terrible! Ahhh, I missed Skaboom's response....kinda just skimmin... Kirby! I just scored some All Star game tickets! Drivin up to Pitt next week! Dont ask what I paid.... First off, I'd like to point out that Mr. Anonymous who made 8 nearly identical negative comments within 5 minutes of each other is not fooling anyone. thsi album was great whats wrong with u peple catch 22 is still catch 22 better, good for a few listens but not much more agree with oldpunker This band hasn't been good since Keasbey Nights. Truth. "First off, let me say that if you hated the new Catch 22, Permanent Revolution might either make you hate them more or less" This band still records new music? Horrible review. You need to make up your mind man! Catch 22 by Joesph Heller is probably the best book of the last 50 years. having sex with my mum is more enjoyable than listening to this cd. as sacreligious as it seems to be, but i have to say, i think that alone in a crowd is better than keasbey nights. it was recorded better, and they played better. the harmonies on it are top notch, the "you're pushin i;m pulling" one in "arm to arm" is worth the price of the cd all on its own. also, i get an early elvis costello vibe from this new album. it took me a few listens to get into, but i dig it its all about streetlight not catch-me "if you hate me so much then stop singing my songs" "sit tight but the revolutions years away" i listened to it and it made want to get up and waltz which is never a good think its just plain cow pat ... gayer than big gay al and he is pretty damn gay i agree they are gay and they eat piss having sex with my mum is more enjoyable than listening to this cd. eat shit catch 22 mwahahahahahahahah i hate catch 22 quite badly...streetlight manifesto is the real revolution i agree.....catch 22 make my ears bleed and make me wanna poke my eyes out with a rusty spoon... utter bollocks quit while u r ahead or should i say not! Streetlight are the new band around so fuck off! I'm kinda on the fence: when it's good, it's really good, but 3 of the tracks are just absolutely horrible. "When I heard it," is what I should have said, rather than that random jumble of letters. I liked this album when I fi, but I find myself never listening to it for some reason. Totally meh. I am not digging the fact that they use a 311-styled vocal melody in one song and that the closer sounds EXACTLY like "Can You Feel the Love Tonight?" The rest of the songs -- aside from that pretty decent roots track -- are pretty mediocre and the production on this is just awkward. |
