If one was to personify Liars, they would be that weird little kid, whose mother would always tell them during childhood “no no, you’re not strange honey, you’re...unique!”

I used to frequent this site in high school and just thought I'd come back and read some punk reviews. After reading this review and the thread of comments I remembered why I stopped coming here; you all are a bunch of jr. high kids with barely any sort of knowledge of music. this band is so boring "liars is one of those groups who all the indie kids claim to love for fear of "not getting it." god forbid you don't understand the complex vision and musical textures of this forward thinking outfit! i mean, after that fact is revealed, your mousey, bookish indie rock girlfriend might up and leave you (stealing all your james joyce books in the process) for the dude with the fixed gear bike who does understand liars." Liars is sweet. None of y'all believed me when I reviewed "They Were Wrong So We Drowned." Now y'all be like, "Ooh, Jesse, you were right ALLLL along." Wate? Liars are No-wave now? What? "Here's all that needs said: They are continuing what bands "such as PiL" did. You consider that a good thing? Public Image Limited? You'll dance to anything." Oh, so this was the gay porn cover they were talking about. I thought it was a joke. and is this a joke? i mean..the album cover..plus on their site there is no mention of a new release. i like some of their stuff....but i have to have a catchy song to get into it. i mean. fuck. ufkcf.sdfksaj1 liars is one of those groups who all the indie kids claim to love for fear of "not getting it." god forbid you don't understand the complex vision and musical textures of this forward thinking outfit! i mean, after that fact is revealed, your mousey, bookish indie rock girlfriend might up and leave you (stealing all your james joyce books in the process) for the dude with the fixed gear bike who does understand liars. Apparently not liking overly obtuse quote-unquote thinking people's music means my horizons are all small and stuff. Isn't this about a year old by now? Already a new one? Liars are without question currently one of the most forward thinking and unique bands of our time. If you listened to this more than once, youd see that there are in fact incredibly intricate structures at work here. Granted, it's over the average punknews readers head. but they are continuing in the tradition of some of the greatest post-punk bands of the 80's such as PiL and This Heat. Expand your horizons, people. They stopped making disco-punk 5 years ago. i totally agree with the comment below. i saw them tour the 1st record years ago and it fucking smoked. now it's poop. check out what's under the sticker....revolting. The first liars full length kicked ass.....the rest sucks. WHY you ask?!?! because the drummer and the bassist left after the first full length I haven't heard this particular EP, but the real bonafide album that the title track is from is amazing, and the song in question is mindblowing. this band is awesome This band strays far too close to the line between "indie" and intentionally uncohesive, but I have to give them some credit for writing "The Other Side of Mt. Heart Attack", one of the best indie rock songs ever. This band is the kid who tried way to hard to be weird. | Features
