September 11th, 2001 will be a date recalled in numerous history texts, web pages, and the hearts and minds of millions of people world wide. When an attack of this nature takes place, music takes a back seat for a time. The question is, when do you let the rock come forward again? For me, it was immediately. Music was the sole way I coped with the tragedy, playing everything from Thursday to Karate to let my emotions out via my speakers. I was still feeling incomplete, though. I hadn't found the one band that could make me feel revived after my emotional death on 9/11. Thank the stars that Jimmy Eat World didn't cancel their Chicago show, for I am a new man because of it. Was there...great show. One of the best ones I've seen actually. JEW sounded fantastic live. Great Review, everyone who thinks moshing is the only good part of shows, needs to go back to the SlipKNot concert, J.E.W. is the best Dude, sorry about that. I did'nt know you have no power over putting new reviews on and taking ones off. Misjudgement on my part...sorry Coldjuly [and everyone else] - nah..jimmy eat shit sounds better, static prevails was their only good album Is it just me or is there a Saves the Day comparison with a lot of bands now??? I mean I dont care for STD too much but they have a pretty original sound. God Im waiting for the "Saves the day sounds like gwar" reference. That guys comments below Coldjuly are funny. You get a 9 my friend. Holy Shit!..I go on vacation for a week and this review is STILL on here..damn put something else in its place..No offense Scott. Holy shit this band sucks. I saw them twice now. Come on people, emo is fucking gay.It all sounds the same. I hate to stereotype a whole genre of music, but in this case I can. They make one damn "hardcore" song to hit the charts and then the rest of the CD sucks more dick than the radio song. This band sucks. Their shows suck. His voice cracks every fucking minute. That don't have the balls to even admit that they are an emo band! Fuck jimmy eat world. And stop calling it JEW! That's frikka frakka shitty shit boom crap fuckigng gay. Fuck you. Actually what is much much worse is the fact that you guys can't seem to grasp the fact that indeed, some teenage girls do actually like the music. My first cd was Dookie by Green Day, when I was in the effin 4th grade. I'm a girl. Now I'm 15. And I take crap because some bands got on TRL. Give me a break. Don't make it hard on all of us just because several bands got "big", and now all the Nsyncers are singing along, too. You think that we should be grown up?! Hah..look in the mirror. Saves the day is much much worse I just felt the urge to throw my 2 cents in on the whole "didn't know the lyrics thing". I know how it feels. Imagine having to pay to see Blink 182 just so you can see Bad Religion? Now, BR is one of my true loves in life, and to be surrouned by a bunch of teenage girls, most if not all of them without driver's licenses, it kinda kills the moood. Especially when you sit through Fenix TX to get to BR. Then, get looked at funny by these same girls for screaming every word exactly while BR is on. There is no justice in this world......ah well, who I am to care? I'm just a fan with a opinion. you people whine too much, he said something stupid, oh well. you all act as if your shit doesn't stink. grow up Yes, I am Scott. Maverick is the name I registered last year before I came a staff member. So if you see Maverick on the site, that's me. Maverick, or Scott? When i go see a band usually i stand at the back and don't move, unless it's to nod my head when there's a catchy part. It's not that i don't care or am not into it; i'm trying to pick up the music, i'm listening, im paying attention. There's a difference. Sometimes i do it even when i'm seeing one of my favourite bands, only it's because i'm in awe. Maybe he didn't know them because he lives in a town like mine where record selection is limited to JEW's latest album. Give people a chance. The only JEW album I like is Bleed American. I'm not down with the whiny lyrics of "Clarity". They have talent, and have progressed incredibly with the new album, but I just can't listen to the sap. Oh, BTW, Fathead- 1 Man Army, Flogging Molly and the Souls.....hell-fucking-yeah. 90% percent of kids who post on this site are anonymous cause were all to lazy to create an account, so please dont try to throw that in your critcs faces. Anyway I was the kid who made the first comment and I stand buy them. I've been to plenty shows were either the kids don't care about the opening bands that I love or only know the new songs and could careless about the old ones or just came straight from the mall or the football field just to mosh and be cool, but that's life. You should expect when you go to show, especialy one as big as JEW to have some of those kids there. But is it so hard not to give some of them there benfit of the doubt? Maybe there not moving around and singing or aplauding cause there new to going to shows and this genre? Maybe they will like what they see and start going to smaller shows and getting to lesser known bands, man thats how everyone gets in to punk and stuff! You have to start somewhere. and yelling shit like "learn the fucking lyrics" isn't gonan help and makes you seem like a elitist asshole...J Kirby- The kid next to me [who looked just like Chris Conley from Saves The Day] and his girlfriend only sang along with the new songs, which prompted me to yell "Learn the fucking words!" during "No Sensitivity" as he stood there, face blank." Ok, my whole thing with the lyrics has beena bit misunderstood. The thing is, those kids really didn't "fit in," it was painfully obvious that they were just there to hear "Bleed American" and such. Had they moved around a bit and gotten into the other songs and such, I wouldn't have cared. But the fact is, as soon as a song that they didn't know started, they would just stop altogether. No moving, no emotion, no nothing. Just waiting for the band to move on to the next song they would know. they essentially stole two tickets from kids who would have supported the band better. They also never EVER applauded during the first two bands. I mean I loathe Hey Mercedes, but at least I applauded. moshing=good....unless you have your skin ripped completely off your arms like i did at warped tour. i stayed out of the pit, but i was more in the front. I would like to see Jimmy Eat World live, but having no moshing is dumb. that is like the best part of shows. good review, but i wouldent like to be at a show that has no moshing. boy that sounds like a whale of a show!!!NOT! no moshing, no pushing, no crowd surfing!!! what was everyone doing, the hand-jive?? I have a feeling that the OneManArmy,FloggingMolly,BouncingSouls show I'm going to will be a tad better than this crap-o-rama tour.- fathead you're fucking lame scott. i guess yah you're right, if you go don't know all the lyrics for that band, you shouldn't bother to go see then. you're so fucking lame i can't stand it. how did punknews.org (a respectible site)hire such trash?? jimmy eat shit is more like it. i've never heard a sappier band in my life. haha yeah dude who said anything about people who listen to blink and stuff are idiots in this thread? Wait a minute...its ok when people know nothing but the new stuff by Jimmy Eat World, but when they only know new stuff by Blink or someone like that, they are idiots? Dont be hypocrites people. Anyway, I love JEW, so this rating is for the great show that I am sure it was. These guys are sweet live. I agree with the guy @ the bottom... I've been to shows where I've never heard of the band, I've been to shows where I've heard them once, and I've been to shows where I know all the songs by heart. We've all been in those situations... It's totally cool if he knows only the new songs, maybe this will spark his intrest and he'll buy the others and then JEW will get the credit they deserve. We all have to start from somewhere. I completely agree with that, shouldnt harrass other people at shows, makes you look like an asshole because you have the time to memorize all the lyrics. I have tons of cds i listen to constantly but i still dont know all the lyrics. I think weezer was the only band i knew all the lyrics too. pure shit it gets a negative 1 I saw them last week in minneapolis @ first ave, and I was expecting a kickass show and I got what I wanted plus more. They kick ass! I've been to plenty of shows before but this one seriously is on my top 5 best ever... they are so amazing live! They sounded as good if not better live than they do on their CDs. Plus, they played a wide selection from all 3 of their CDs and off the one split EP. You definately want to check these guys out! I have a friend who doesn't listen to them much and he still said it was awesome. So yeah, make an effort to see them live once in your life, its amazing. wow how lame, you have to beg for a photo pass?
