Throughout the years, Eighteen Visions have progressed from one of the original metalcore bands to a radio-friendly rock band. While their cleaner side started to shine through on 2002's Vanity and 2004's Obession, their self-titled release nearly abandons their metalcore roots and trades it in for a straight rock sound. On Obsession, it worked at times, but didn't exactly blow the listener away. So the question with their latest release is, will they finally be able to capture their sound and produce an album that is better than the mediocrity they've put out in the past? While Eighteen Visions is an improvement, it is in no way the album that they're intending it to be.

score is for the lead singer looking like Coby Dick from Paparoach I'm gonna go see these guys about a haircut after work today. dude, the acacia strain record is TERRIBLE. But at least it wants to be good. 18V don't want to be good at all. Too many stars. This band is incredibly awful. So is Bleeding Through. Yeah, he went there. this sucks they have definitely regressed over the years.....them and buckcherry now sound damn near identical, which really is not a plus, because new buckcherry is pretty much pure garbage to me....I liked Obsession, which is hard to say, it had a few good songs, and i feel the same about this one, but this one feels as though it was rushed, or else they are just out of original songs/ideas......either way, if you saw them at warped, they play good live, but if you don't like the music, don't bother..... 'Yeah I went there. ' i think conan obrian should start a 'in the year 2000' spin off called '...on the internet....'. You guys are arguing about the concept of musical preference...on the internet. I think its pertty halarious that people even give a shit about the album cover. To do that they are assuming this band has fallen from grace which is clearly not the case. They are a terrible representation of anything called music. Plus metalcore these days is all fashion kids who don't have a clue about anything but rehashed generic music re done since the monstrousity called posion the well infected the world. Yeah I went there. 1. did anyone in the band look at this album cover, or was their art direction '18' 'you mean like the nu-' 'yeah, yeah, picture it....18'. So I have every right to get pissed off at someone hating on my taste of music because it was entirely uncalled for. "You lose your point because literally anyone can make this statement. I listened to the single from this album, and woke up with a sore ass in a ditch in New Jersey. Weird. this shit SUCKS this shit SUCKS I still like earliest eighteen visions and thought their ridiculous, tounge-in-cheek "fashion-model"-look just made it funnier, but anything they've done in the 00's has been complete and utter shit. Why do people pay attention to assholes like this? ...and you are totally familiar with my taste of music based on my BYD review, Eighteen Visions comments, and Acacia Strain comment? Thats pretty sad considering I'd be willing to bet that I love alot of bands that you are into. My taste is pretty eclectic. Just because (it appears) you aren't into any "metalcore" doesn't mean I have a bad taste in music. metalcore has been around since the early 90's, and to a lesser extent, the late 80's. The review is pretty dead on though. You really don't want to like this album, but its such an ode to cheesy 80s hair bands that you can't help but slightly enjoy it. Fitting for a day when SoaP is released. lol I always thought this band were metalcore, and now I find out they sound like Motley Crue.
