When recording Oliver Under the Moon, I doubt that Pistolita planned on the album ending up so chaotically. Not in the way one would normally think of musical chaos, though. There’s no crazy time signatures, no towering riffs, no banshee-like vocals -- where this album gets lost in the chaos is in the production aspect of it.

Didn't Usurp Synapse do a piano/vocal thing too? That was pretty sweet. I like the artwork i really like the bloodbrothers comment. this band is engaging live, because the songs are good. the production is a bit dodgey, but time allows for merited appretiation. I've seen this band live twice now. They're decent live, at least. I've seen them live twice now, and they are definitely loud and have quite a bit going on at once. it sort of works for me, but the jury is still out. i agree, better production could definitely do a world of good for this CD though. but i kind of think the way it came out is inherent in their sound. I bought this record after being very impressed with their live show opening for Say Anything. they are very fun live, and while the record isn't as good as the live show, it's still a pretty good album nice use of a dazed and confused quote in there I really liked this CD, mostly because it was so "chaotic." "A piano and screamed vocals are two things that need never be mixed, a memo Pistolita failed to receive." "A piano and screamed vocals are two things that need never be mixed, a memo Pistolita failed to receive." this band was actually pretty good live, wondered what they sounded like recorded. Looking back I kinda see how they could end up being cluttered |
