| Heavenslive in Glasgow2006 live show Review by: Mr_Ian See others by this writer Official Site (link) Only registered users can post comments Published on October 20th 2006
So Heavens' album, Patent Pending didn't get much love on here, which I personally disagree with. I thought the album was pretty decent but not as good as I was expecting, since i had been told it would sound a lot like Interpol, who I love but instead it sounded like Alkaline Trio on a comedown. Anyways, this was only the band's second ever show and I wasn't entirely sure what to expect. The electronic soundscapes and layering of vocals would likely fall flat on its arse in a live setting. Unfortunately, i'll never know if that's true or not as Heavens are a completely different proposition live than they are on record.

I saw them at Birmingham, and it was a lot better than I thought it was going to be. Good review would loved to have seen Heavens live and The Draft but neither of them had any Ireland dates this time around..... maybe next time! i really enjoyed the review. i found it comical... and to a fellow scottsman (kinda)... yo. Oh, and I've no idea who covered I wanna Be Adored. however, talking with Matt Skiba after the Draft show he said they were hopefully gonna record it at some point. Yay! The drumming was phenomenal, bizarrely I was in london last night watching The Draft and Heavens were there watching since their tour was over. Anyway, Jo was steaming drunk and started telling George Rebeo how amazing his drumming was and then george went on about how genius Heavens' drummer was. I just stood there aghast that I was getting pissed with two of my favourite bands. The Draft were fuckin brilliant live, thought about reviewing it but I was too drunk to remember anything... I agree with your assessment of the album, and of Missin' A Bit. I hate to bust on some kids tryin hard, but their music needs a lot of work and I can imagine how shook they and out of place they probably looked at this show. I love "I Wanna Be Adored." Score is for the song. score is for the word arse first maybe.. |
