It’s always great to see people step out of the shadows of their former bands. These Arms Are Snakes bassist Brian Cook spent years playing in mathcore pioneers Botch, but after the initial rush of people judging his new band by the standards of his old band, the time has come for those comparisons to be squashed for good. Not even operating in a similar vein as Botch, their objective is to create something original and new. Didn’t bands forget how to do that years ago?

it means you guys are afraid of sex! Riding the Grape Dragon is a slap to the chin alright. The snakes'best song Subtle Body is on Easter. I haven't heard all of this but what I have heard I really like. What does this actually mean? Like a suave ladies' man on the prowl, the song swaggers into your brain with some downright viciously danceable riffing, keeping the energy up for nearly five minutes. i think they do sound like jehu in certain parts, and that they also do jesus lizard-y parts. sorry i didn't mention both bands. I saw this band open for thrice and despite that fact that i had never heard anything by them, they were by far the most entertaining live band i've seen. I really hate to say this, but I don't know where half of the comparissons in this review come from. This album's so much more boring than their last, which didn't have as good a sound as their first EP I love this album. Jade Tree '06 baby! i love this album but i wouldn't say its relentless catchy. i think their other material was much catchier than this, but with that said, this shit blows their old shit out of the water live. then again...anything these guys do live blows all shit out of the water. Good review. The record does flow a lot a better than their last effort. Push it like a push pin, push it till it gets in! totally agree about the first album. first 6 songs were killer, last ones were kinda lame. I agree with the last Kenjamin's comments, but remember the Harkonen split ... oh my god best TAAS ever. Looking forward to hearing this! bummer. kenjamin, My complaint with the last record was that the first few songs were awesome and memorable but the record dragged on forever and I could never finish it. How does this one hold up? these arms are gay good, but hard to get into. |
