This show was great. Should have stuck around for the Bollweevils. They rocked! Made me a fan instantly!

Rumor is that Raygun is releasing a Live DVD/CD..

this show was fucking intense. you should have stayed for the bollweevils. they instantly made me into a fan.

Yeah I thought the Blue Meanies were headlining and thought that they were just bringing up the extra mics really early for some strange reason. I should have put two and two together but I didn't. I was walking around to the bathroom and to get another drink so I wasn't really focused on what was going on the stage until the Blue Meanies started playing.

V Like me he figured the blue meanies were headlining. They were first on the marquee and on double door's website.

Why do you say you didn't know why all the mics were being set up and you were suprised when the Blue Meanies took the stage. But the end of the review you say the only reason you went was to see the Blue Meanies.

Well put review, sucks that the meanies played a small set, btu was better than no meanies at all.

The Blue Meanies are utter shit. If only School of Fish could've played, the night would have been a "total success." Get over this shitty band, Chicago. Sprunke can sucke it.

i heard from my buddy who was out in the lobby that "riot mike" paid off the police to let raygun play their entire set. if that's true, that's fuckin awesome.

haha, I wouldn't say I've been quiet. I just couldn't get into either pre-bash show because i'm six months short of being 21. Believe me, I would've been there in a heartbeat if there was a way to get in that didn't involve trickery.

And believe Jerry when he says I wrote a monstrous review of the big show sunday. It's on my myspace blog right now and the thing tops out at 2900 words.

Did Bill like the show? He's been so quiet lately.

I did a review for the second Riot Fest pre-show but I was being lazy and didn't submit it in time for the Friday reviews so if punknews accepts that one then you have that to look forward too on Tuesday.

Bill also wrote a fantastic review of Riot Fest itself, it's a long but very good read, I'd expect that one to appear on tuesday for sure.

you gotta love that the venue or the cops or whoever let sunday night run so late, I was expecting NR to get cut off at any minute but it sounded to me like they were able to get thier whole set in.

yes, i was young thr last time for the bollweevils, but that's what sunday was for - sunday was for the kids. I went to all three shows and had a blast. SUBT was the greatest show I've ever been to. No security, Good Beer, non-staop Stage Diving (even the Briefs and Casualties were jumping) and of course NAKED RAYGUN!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, but you got your fill in in the late-90's. You may be right about the crowd's age being in mind, but it's not like a different venue would have prevented you from going. It's fun for you now because you can get in. I can get in too, but I miss the energy of the sweaty kids. Weren't you one the last time you saw the bollweevils? That aside, I missed the Saturday show. Did anyone go (other than the reviwer)?

i hate to be a dick about this, but to the guy bitching about the all-ages thing: i'm pretty sure this weekend had the 21 crowd in mind, especially the two pre-bash shows. and i think the two pre-bash were much more fun because of it. the kids got their fill on sunday. for me, i appreciated that someone gave a shit about a 30-year-old who doesn't want sweaty kids @ a show that has to start @ 5 p.m uin order to end @ 10 p.m. i like shows that start @ 9 p.m. and end 2 2 a.m. That's fun to me now.

Throwing the crowd for a loop is a terrible idea. Imagine if you went to see Bob Dylan and he played before Kings of Leon and you missed some of his set intending to miss Kings of Leon. If The Blue MEanies wanted to throw people for a loop maybe they could have done it with their performance, not the timing of their performance.

Blue Meanies wanted to throw the crowd for a loop. That's why they played before the 'weevils.

Sounds like a good show, wish I could have gone to the preshows but oh well Riot Fest kicked so much ass it made up for my weekend of lameness that prevented me from seeing the first two shows. I heard from a friend that the Blue Meanies show on Sunday was better than what they did on Friday so that made me really happy I didn't miss the better performance, best part of that was BM covering White Riot!!!

I sent in a review for this as well but with a much more negative feel. This guy is right, The Blue Meanies not headlining threw a definite spanner in the works. This show would have been much better at an all-ages venue or, at least, in the proper order. Think about the poor kids who found these bands two years ago when they were 16 and never had a chance to see them in a non-festival setting (a festival setting is, as we all now, the weakest setting).

nice review. great show, but the bollweevils stole the show... it was intense at the end. the riot fest shirts rule too. now who in the fuck is reviewing the final night? bill?

Thumbs up. I wish I could've gotten into this. I was at a birthday party that night and every few minutes I'd look at my watch and think "hm, the Blue Meanies are probably on stage right now."
