When I first heard Grimace over a year ago I could not believe what I was hearing. It was a mixture of JFA, Minor Threat, the Germs, and the Misfits. It was one of the best things I had heard in a very long time. They brought back hardcore skatepunk, and made it relevent and important again. I listened to all the songs of theirs I could, and was always left wanting more. So with the release of this live album, I finally had my requested offering of Grimace.

"but can it kill the grimace?" Okay, so they're from Visalia. There's another Grimace from Northern California (Eureka?) from the early 1990s which became Crutch around 10 years ago. Really good, rockin' punk. im friends with this band, we live in visalia CA. their live show is insane and much better than their music, they do tons for the local scene. you can download this cd and a bunch of other shit at this website http://www.soundclick.com/bands/pagemusic.cfm?bandID=611440 I thought this was a band we played with a while ago. Nice guys and good tunes. They are from Visalia, CA. I found this link on interpunk Aren't most punk live albums just a straight live recording? Maybe in melodicore/pop-punk land they do stupid things with protools and mixing up shows and whatnot, but I think most "real" "hardcore" (not "real hardcore") live albums are just a live recording... And congrats on the first review - you get better as you write more; I know. Where are they from? When's this recording from? How many other bands with the same name are there? (at least 1) Here's the obligatory reference to a fat, shapeless purple monster that hangs out with Ronald McDonald. You knew it was coming, so here it is. this sounds like something i would like but rarely listen to. |
