Epitaph Records -- Millencolin

Ah, now what a wacky wee platter this is: early-to-mid-`80s super-angry hardcore politicopunk from a sociopathic-sounding 6'9" nutter ranting about murdering cops, bombing holiday parades, about being more (self-)'righteous' than fellow political activists, supporting Gadaffi (ask yer parents -- before yer time), cutting off the president's head and mailing it to Christians (whom he wants to torch) in a garbage bag, taking LSD and psychotically praying that army planes crash and then taking credit for it when it happens, hating the media and government and people in general...QUALITY MAYHEM.

If these ingredients listed here are your cup of vitriol (and let's face it, who DOESN'T like that kind of weird, damaged shit?) then buy this CD. It's the only two albums the band ever put out combined on one disc, and both albums sound somewhat different. Winsonsin, the second (which I used to have on blue vinyl, back in the daze when people bought such a thing) throws weird Native American Indian and acoustic stuff through the insanely angry mix (Doc Dart, the singer, has the worst 'singing' voice you will ever hear -- it's pure satire, and obviously a huge influence on Joey Vindictive of the Vindictives, another bitter, angry, sneering, self-righteous, pathetic-sounding fool of a man) to create a vastly different sound to the first album, which is more of the early `80s hardcore politicopunk-inspired variety.

If you're angry and murderous and sociopathic and bitter and sick and an obnoxious prick, buy this; you'll love it. And be amused to learn that wee Doc Dart now works in a gas station in Michigan. Ironic for somebody so anti-corporate...karmic almost. What goes around comes around, eh?

That is kinda funny that I mispelled "their" in a sentence where I talk about stupidity. I wasn't actually blazing the music though, just the review. And besides, of all the people that come to this site you are in the top 10 for moronic comments which have no substance. Please don't respond to this though cuz I really don't want to waste my time backing that up by going through old reviews and finding flaws in the comments you made. But then again, I'm sure you could do the same to me. Let's just call a truce and admit we dislike one another. Sweet.

"Their is a difference between intelligence and sheer stupidity ... i think."

    "Their" is?

Maybe you should actually give this music a chance before you write it off because of a review written 25 years after it was released.

    My Score:

The below fellow has, ahem, no sense of humor. This band isn't anywhere near as serious as you are, my friend.

That said, just because their voices are awfully similar (or similarly awful?) doesn't mean that the Vindictives were influenced by the Crucifucks. Score is for self-satisfied reviewers.

I can't believe how much this review talks shit about Doc Dart. He is truly an inspiration, music-wise, and one of the most talented punk songwriters, well, ever. Seriously. Mocking his lyrics, political stance, and talent is not cool. This reviewer is a, ahem, total shit.

I strongly, strongly doubt that Doc Dart works in a gas station. His dad owns Dart National Bank and he's loosely related to the Dart foam cup people. He was a crazy rich kid.

this review does not make me want to listen to the record.

    My Score:

The first s/t record (the 1st half of this) is completely psychotic (in a great way, like Bad Brains "Rock For Light") and the "Wisconsin" record is really really good, mainly for the lyrics and Doc Dart's great, unique voice.

Seriously, the music is oddly timed and arranged, it's not generic punk at ALL. Add Doc's voice and lyrics and you've got a stone cold classic example of crazy Michigan musicians.

A correction: The Crucifucks did one more record "L.D. Eye" (still in print), and Doc Dart went on to do 2 solo records- one, "Patricia" under the name Doc Dart and one that just came out last year on Crustacean Records under the name 26.

Actually, I originally wrote this review while working at a grocery store in Oregon. This guy ripped me off.

Posted by danielsan on 2007-01-09 09:27:34

Either this guy wrote the same review twice or he stole it.

The reviewer on interpunk is from Illionois, this reviewer is from San Diego.

My detectivating skills tell me that he probably wrote the original review in October of last year, and shortly after the singer from this band found him and beat him for the gas station quip.

Unable to get over the incident, he moved to San Diego, and out of spite for the singer has posted the review again under the assumed name 'tittytwisterbudy'.

Clearly, he is the victim here.

it should also be noted that steve shelley, sonic youth's drummer, was the drummer for the crucifucks on their first album.

How does hating fundementalist Christians and everything else mentioned make you an "obnoxious prick"? The VERY REASON we hate those things is because they are pricks. I wouldn't mind torching Jerry Fallwell or Pat Robertson....it would actually bring me great joy.....fun for the whole family.
