Take Action!'s 2006 volume of their charity compilation series was definitely one of their best yet, and it was all due to the idea of acknowledging the nü-emo takeover and then combating it with a disc of modern, more clearly defined punk rock. It was sort of like a more clerical, sensible update on that awful...ly ambivalent Punk vs. Emo compilation from a few years back.

Oh, and why on earth did Rise Against contribute "Amber Changing"?!??! it's a good song, but definetly not what I would have put on there. They could have used this to get "Generation Lost" more out in the open. I had heard a lot about this comp, so I picked it up, and was mildly disappointed. There are only about 5 Punk rock songs on here, and the rest is metalcore and emo crap. But again, I did discover No Trigger. Their song "Bust Topical" is awesome. And so are the videos. Converge's is fucking weird though. Oh, and the anti flag song on this comp kicks ass. Score is for the song Whoa...the Falcon is on here? I'll sure as hell be buying this. Take Action volume 1 is my all-time favorite compilation. Too bad all the recent ones suck so bad. Hopefully I'll be going to this tour, since for some idiotic reason they thought they needed to actually add a show in Toledo. I found it funny that the Emery song is labeled as an acoustic when all it is the song with the vocals and a piano. This isnt half bad The Falcon is the best shit on here. Strike Anywhere too. I'm sorry, I think that if someone wants to kill themself, you should let them. Call me old fashioned... a great compilation with a great charity going to a good cause. If you have a younger sibling you're trying to get into good (or at least decent) music outside of the radio, this is a great place to start -- it's pretty much a primer of the punk and emo scenes. Plus, buying a copy benefits charity, so you can't go wrong. Score is for Wet Hot American Summer. the new plea for peace comp is gonna be so much better than this. the falcon? whaaaa? |
