I have always wondered how bands like the Adolescents and Circle Jerks came to create bands like NOFX. I can see the similarities and how the influences of the bands like the two I just mentioned helped to create modern day punk, but I always felt that there was a missing link. In the back of my mind I knew that there had to be some band that incorporated the same speed and intensity of the more modern day punk bands and blended it with the snotty Southern California attitude that early L.A. `80s punk captured. I thought I might have found this missing link after hearing the “Pervert Nurse” reference in the NOFX song, “Two Jealous Again,” and seeing Guttermouth cover “Guns” live, so I decided to check out D.I.’s album, Horse Bites Dog Cries. It became immediately apparent that his album was the missing link that I had been looking for all these years.

"Two Jealous Again" is a great song and is teaching a lot of people about old punk rock, when it was still good. Fat Mike sure does know his shit. This is the best of the D.I. Discography. Youth in Asia and Obnoxious are the best tracks on the album. Too bad the current lineup can't do these songs justice. Good stuff. Any review that commands me to run out and buy the album pisses me off. damn good review. i've been wanting to review this album for a while (probably a year) but i couldn't do it justice (and since i already fucked up the adolescents one i couldn't have done a sub-par review for this). You're correct...it is Alfie Agnew...sloppy on my part. d.i. is ok. i never really got into them for some reason even though i like most of the orange county bands. check this out. http://www.theadolescents.net/bios_files/adshistory.jpg Oh, and are you sure Frank Agnew was in D.I.? I've never seen a line-up that included him. Any band that Rikk Agnew was involved with was gold. One of the greatest punk songwriters ever in my opinion. This is my favorite DI record, better than Team Goon only because it has more songs. You can't go wrong with any of these 3: Yeah, you were...I have been wanting to write a review of this for awhile, but I didn't have the time...well I still don't hence why it's half assed. HELL. FUCKING. YES. Was I talking with you about this album a few weeks ago Phantom? No, it sadly doesn't...that one is on Team Goon. Thanks for the feedback on the review. Great review. Does this album have "Richard Hung Himself"? One of my favorite punk records ever.....If you do not own this, or never heard it, do yourself a favor and pick it up.... if you dont skate dont fucking write about it. you sound stupid. Great band, this is what i think of when somebody says Orange County to me. I wish somebody would reissue their LP's though. Great record, great band. I prefer Ancient Artifacts, but both are essential. "but this album makes you wish that you lived in some dirty little studio in Hollywood where, in the sweltering heat, you and your friends could blast this album, drink a little too much PBR, then throw on some gnarly neon green hat and skate down to the Troubadour to catch a sold out punk show." This album is amazing. D.I. are insanely underrated in the grand scheme of things. it's remarkable how many people have discovered old, dusty but classic punk albums from "We Got Two Jealous Agains". State of Shock is their best in my opinion. Still, this is pretty decent. good album. probably one of the only di albums worth owning. |
