Brighton’s Phinius Gage seem to have been around forever, playing their hearts out up and down the UK and Europe all the while building a sizeable and loyal fanbase. That is, a fanbase that likes simple, unaffected punk rock, punk rock that is fast, melodic and from the heart. With Seek Out Your Foes the band have moved away from their earlier work, where their influences were clear for all to see, and delivered an exceptional record full to the brim with skatepunk anthems that will see fists raised and smiles brewed in equal measure.

this band sought me out on myspace a few months ago, and I was pretty impressed. Nothing groundbreaking, but it's good to see bands that still remember how to play punk and play it well. Score is for the band, I've only heard a few songs but they were all pretty sweet. Hey, B_G, go listen to Resolve a couple more times before you accuse Lagwagon of just going through the motions. Seek out your foes, Battered & Bruised and Mary fucking Kelly are stunning tracks, I hope the rest of the album is as good. I'll be picking this up soon.. it is a cracking album... Can anyone point me to some good HC/punk/crust record stores in Boston? I'll be in the area, and want to waste some $. I did a quick search and came up w/ ReGeneration records... Thanks this album cover looks a lot like the Ryan's Hope one. Say what you will about Pennywise, but leave the Lagwagon out of it. This review makes me want to listen to this, it's been a while since I've heard a good new skatepunk album. From the way you've creamed your pants all over this record I'm suprised it scored only a 7. phinius gage got a railroad spike lodged in his brain. |
