Ah, Braid. One of those bands that played during the glory days of "emo," also known as the mid-`90s. So many bands put out amazing albums during this time: Texas Is the Reason, Sunny Day Real Estate, Mineral, caP'n Jazz, the Promise Ring, just to name a few.

Great record, awesome band!! I think A Dozen Roses is my favorite song ever. Or definetely in my top 5 songs. And I think Frame and Canvas is in my top 5 records as well. Brilliant. I was so stoked to see them on their reunion tour.... it was so rad live. worst review ive read in a while. die in a fire plz. Awesome album, almost perfect even. Saw them in '98 with Promise Ring and Get Up Kids, what a great lineup. I always wished they had made another album but I'm not sure they could have topped this. "Kudos to the reviewer for not going into long boring detail about the band's legacy. Christ, I see so many reviews on this site where three quarters of the review is praising the band and not the piece of music that is being reviewed." Fuck yes. One of the greatest albums ever. Glad to see a review. Not into full sentences right now. Kudos to the reviewer for not going into long boring detail about the band's legacy. Christ, I see so many reviews on this site where three quarters of the review is praising the band and not the piece of music that is being reviewed. I was in midle school when i first heard this album. Got to see them on their reunion tour. One of my favorite albums ever. One of my favorite record. I saw them when they toured for this and it was a super small, no stage venue where we stood in front of the band. One of my favorite shows ever. Urbana's too dark is one of my favorites as well along with that song on the pogho split (wonderful puddle?). I even named my daughter after one of the songs from this record (Ariel (we spell it Arielle though)))). the best album of the genre by far, age of octeen isn't even close. Dear VStoriesFallen Sorry guys. I see the main complaint is that I didn't write about the album's significance. I decided not to take it that direction because I wanted to review an album from a band, not an important album from an important band during this period of time. I didn't mention that slightly in the opening, but I just wanted to leave that stuff out and let the album stand alone with the rest of the band's discography. So how about getting some more Braid albums reviewed? You guys obviously don't want me to do another one, so how about it? not even a slight mention of "ariel"!? its the best braid song ever. imho anyways... indiereviews.org? amazing record. totally fucking out of sight. I need this. I have Movie Music Vol. 1, and that's all the Braid I got. Good call, Maverick: this album is essential as far as indie goes in the late 90's. A lot of music snobs do not get bra!d, but "Frame" has a sort of visceral connection to its fans that the band did not attain until then and never did again. YES, one of my favorite albums of all time. The review is ok, but not giving enough credit to this album. Scott should do a review of this one. Anyway, from a sound standpoint this album blows the other releases away. J.Robbins' production is stellar. Damon !! Roy was good, but Damon was insane !!! The songs are much more "mature" and more developed than their previous records. I still love Age of Octeen and both albums would probably rank in or close to my top 10 of all time, but this is just a notch better. and why call Bob, Robert?? As far as I know and have ever heard/read, he normally goes by Bob, and seems to prefer that. At least that's what he has up on all his sites?? good call on mentioning Urbana's Too Dark, that song is underrated. Definately in my top three Braid songs. This review doesn't come anywhere close to justifying just how incredible this record was when it came out, nor how well it still holds up almost a decade later. Seeing this band in concert twice over the course of their last five shows in August '99 was life-changing. One of the most important bands in my life, and one of the best records I own. most people contend Braid is superior to Hey Mercedes...but i donno, i love Hey Mercedes too much to be swayed. I have been wanting to review this for so long, its just that im so damn lazy. this is one of my favorite albums EVER. Score is for the album Such a good band. I have Age of Octeen myself, but I need to buy this. the only album i own by this band is the age of octeen. i just love the off key singing. "New Nathan Detroits" best song? |
