If you were to take the technical musicianship and forward-thinking mindset of the Dillinger Escape Plan or Daughters, and transplant it into a jazzy indie rock context, you’d probably get something like Maps & Atlases. It takes some time to really dig into and appreciate the complex instrumentation these guys cook up on Trees, Swallows, Houses, but give it some patience and the seemingly impenetrable flurries of notes and odd rhythms suddenly seem to click. The more you listen to this EP, the more it reveals its secrets, its nuances, and its subtleties: The mark of a quality release by some extremely talented musicians.

yes...this is good....really good....and 20 bucks says whoever calls this wankery can't play for shit themselves, and thusly must resort to labeling others talent as "one tricky ponyism" as a way to make their own feeble attempts at instrumentation somehow seem worthwhile....but it's not. they're brilliant. DEP and Daughters in the same breath? weird. regardless, this sounds great. This band is incredible...i fucking love them. sounds like Hella with shitty vocals. oh wait, hella already has shitty vocals. Best new band I've seen and heard in a very long time. I saw these guys at SXSW and they were awesome. It's like some kind of fusion between Minus the Bear meets Kings of Leon. I am still thinking about that performance right now. Very memorable. i love this EP. This band is the best virtual unknown in Chicago. Watching them live makes me never want to touch an instrument again because they are insanely good. I don't know what the weird refered to after the lyrical quote but it coulden't be the lyric itself because it's pretty straight forward. simply stating that the individual has their feet on the dashboard and are clipping their toe nails at the exact pace and rythme as that of a metronome. Actually I have no grievances with the review just in a rather pissy mood sorry for the bother. These dudes are incredible live as well. TSR this ep is killer | Features
