To put it simply, Ellegarden is a Japanese punk band that sings in "Engrish." Despite the Japanese languages' lack of the letter "L," they handle themselves pretty well. Yes folks, Ellegarden sings mostly in English so you can understand them. Following the trend of J-punk (it's an abbreviation) bands like Asian Kung Fu Generation and Thee Michelle Gun Elephant, Ellegarden makes pop-punk sounds with hard-hitting lyrics.

when ellegarden plays live shows here they set the crowd off, they have like 3 live dvds out already.. i saw them w/ NUFAN, they blew nufan away in terms of intensity and love. Ellegarden is ok for what they are, but what they are isn't that hot. They come from the Simple Plan, New Found Glory crowd, which isn't that hott. I really like Coquettish and Beat Crusaders. There are a lot of 90's ska-punk bands from Japan that I like as well. My favorite record of last year. The Japanese punk rock scene is the best in the world right now with Ken Yokoyama and all the bands on Pizza of Death along with Ellegarden, The Garlic Boys, and a lot more. Fast Melodic Punk Rock where people actually buy the records and show up to see the bands. I'm American and I think this cd kicks ass. Please feel free to spend your time and money on it. I'm Japanese and so ashamed of this band. |
