Genghis Tron’s debut EP, Cloak of Love was overflowing with promise, but seemed like more of a demonstration of unique concepts and striking musicianship than a fully realized record. It switched rapidly back and forth between mellow techno beats and crazy-ass grind-tapping, with some aesthetically pleasing throat-rippers above it. Cloak of Love introduced the hardcore/metal underground to the concept that extreme music can be both viscerally intense and polished, and that production values doesn’t diminish the impact that grind can have. Unfortunately, its genre-mashing seemed like a gimmick, and I listened to it mostly for laughs.

I love it when people who don't listen to this kind of music comment an just say its crap...I think it was a great review/cd...i can't wait until they come with ed gein...it'll be a great show This review sucks. Boooooooooooooooo! I saw these guys playing in the parking lot outside of an EITS show. Very good stuff. There goes Will again, bashing shit without giving an explanation. I can do that too - Will is a piece of shit. Terrible. The only downside of signing to a semi-major as Kylesa did is that they were forced to tour with these guys. Band and record are both very very good. i was gonna check these guys out in redlands not too long ago. i heard the cops shut it down pretty fast anyway. score is for this album. Don't really consider this to be in the realm of hardcore, but it was easily one of the best metal releases of 2006. they are on relapse they got signed recently. after this album Thought these guys were on relapse. Good album anyway. this album is too good. took for ever to get a review up here, but seriously one of the best albums of last year. this was one of my favorite albums of last year. really incredible. beats suck. play a real version of grindcore. fake metal. i usually hate this kind of stuff but for some reason i love these guys. they were great live when i caught them last fall and both this album and the ep are amazing i saw most of this album, and most of cloak of love played live in a tiny little venue in Coventry, and aside from the scene kid wankers pissing everyone off with their "hXc moshing" it was fucking amazing. for a band with no drummer and only three members, GT have a hell of a stage presence. luckily the scene kids eventually got beaten up by some massive bloke, who elbowed one of them in the face. score is for the gig. this record is light years better than their previous efforts. If ever there was a better use for the word "meh," I haven't seen it. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. Good review. I may check this out, as their older mp3s didn't do anything for me.
