Pink Razors

First Degree [7 inch] (2007)

Rorschach

Pink Razors might be pegged around their hometown of RVA as Dillinger Four Jr., but their new-ish 7", First Degree, should prove them to be just a bit more original. The band still plays a familiar style of high-energy pop-punk, but with a rare sense of franticness and unusually high-pitched vocals (it's not just my record player going a few more RPMs than it should -- the vocals really hit those upper registers), Pink Razors seem poised to eventually plant their own handprint in the Pop-Punk Walk of Fame.

First Degree is a brief little trip through Pink Razors' world, as stylistically described above. In six minutes' time we're given the fun title track, "Keepsakes" and its clever vocal harmonies, and "If I Were Me (What I Would Do)," a number that doesn't sound terribly different from the two others, but is definitely more brash.

If you were a big fan of the Razors' previous material, that being the Scene Suicide EP and Waiting to Wash Up full-length, it's hard to go wrong with this little deal.
