Dance Gavin Dance’s Downtown Battle Mountain has a lot going against it. First off, the band is signed to Rise Records, a label commonly associated with generic nü-screamo bands. Second, the band is technically one such band that could be relegated to that singing/screaming group. And last of all, the band used MySpace to rise to popularity. However, even with all these detrimental factors, Dance Gavin Dance are nothing like their label peers, sharing more in common with bands like Alexisonfire then Drop Dead, Gorgeous.

this is really great music. I bought this record about a year ago and was slightly dissappointed, now i have really started to appreciate this record for all it's worth. I'm surprised that Equal Vision didn't get their hands on these guys surprise Im from cuba , everyone has one brain , and open your eye and look north are my favs. I like how the review is all like, "Yo, this isn't your typical nu-screamo!" and then throughout the review, compares it to other shitty bands in that vein. i think dude can flat out sing. i dunno why internet people hate so bad... oh well. as you were. Terrible band name. And they definitely don't sound like The Fall of Troy. fuck this band and fuck the boreds Nu-Screamo? This cd was gross, they sound like everyone else and do nothing different. Annoy vocals and annoying screams = terrible. Plus they have a terrible name. cd wasnt bad. it was really hit or miss for me. When i saw them all i was thinking of tho was a cross of alexis/fall of troy/circa. good call. i wish chris benoit would kill this band... I'm so spent on this sort of shit. If this is decent it's a shame. Maybe if it had come out 3 years ago when this whole nu-screamo bag hadn't completely soured yet. By now it's almost repulsive. "Dance" is the trendiest word of our generation. This is actually half-decent. Only half, though. |
