Releases like this make me hate my job as a volunteer reviewer. Not because Bullet for My Valentine is terribly unlistenable by any means, but because there's a certain demographic (This ain't a scene, it's a goddamn … shut up) that come to this site, just like there is a certain demographic of reviewers that somewhat share the taste of the site's visitors at large. And while Trustkill may have artists with a definite connection to punk, Bullet for My Valentine isn't really one of them.

concidering this is the first band I ever liked. I grew and changed my style of music and they're not what I have in my book! BUT! since they're the very first band I liked, I give them a high score because they're still around today and overall, they DO make good music (to me) if you wanted somebody to review it who likes it, they shouldn't have sent it to pn. How about we get someone who likes the band/style in the appropriate demographic etc to review this. i reckon these guys are good. pretty impressive to nail their studio sound in a live show (in an age where lots of bands can't). Albert - check out the new record by SMD. Its basically 50-year old dudes from LA playing stuff that sounds like a cross between DRI's first 7" and metallica circa 1984. Absolutely ballistic. Songs about fucking up on probation, passing out drunk in the hot LA sun and of course....satan. Six Weeks Records. Everything that's wrong with modern metal, you'll find right here with BFMV. I even hesitate to call these guys metal. We need another 80's thrash era...bad. I give this a 3 for the simple fact that even though the theme is cheezy, the band has some very nice art work logo design. |
