Last year's long-awaited release by now-defunct Australian metal act I Killed the Prom Queen is nothing short of impressive. With its sound leaning more towards Swedish melodic death metal, it’s clear that they had really progressed since their last release.

Throwing in a mix of brutal vocals, crunching breakdowns and epic melodies, they string together their own distinct sound within the genre (fan favorites standing out, "Sharks in Your Mouth" and "Your Shirt Would Look Better with a Columbian Necktie"). Newer vocalist Edward Butcher completed the band, as he could squeeze a number of words into a short space. This isn't to mention his ability to achieve high-pitched screams, low growls and, during their live shows, pig squeals.

Fredrik Nordström had done an amazing job with polishing off their album, as the production quality of the drums gave them a heavier sound than ever. The addition of keyboards and Jona’s epic backup vocals separated them from most other bands.

This album is worth grabbing, as it will not disappoint.

The backup vocals are incredibly weak, strained and feel like they are about to go out of key any second. they are not at all 'epic'. They feel completely out of place on the album and are totally pussy shit.

There are maybe two tracks, tops, on this album that could be considered to have some kind of 'dynamic '. However, if you play the first three seconds of each song and then skip to the next track, then repeat that the whole way through the album you realise that each track LITERALLY starts with an identical chord progression or drum fill. One of the guitarists has now joined Bleeding Through, The 'Singer' has joined Eternal Lord back in the UK, and the drummer has his own aforementioned shit going on.

I can say, however, that their live show is a pleasant change from this filler of an album: its over the top stage and mosh antics from both sides and in one way it is a shame they broke up, solely because of the positive crowd response and way they used to get kids psyched up and moving at their shows

Hey, I wish I sounded like Darkest Hour too. Well, not that much apparently.

    damnitsderek (July 19, 2007)

Way to use "epic" twice in a span of three paragraphs.

I'm sure I'll be quick to pick this up, as pig squeals are EXACTLY what I look for in my music.

If I wanted to listen to mysoginistic crap, I'd rather listen to killwhitneydead for the sheer ludicris of their samples or pre-trainwreck boysnightout, both intense guilty pleasures.

I'd rather have warm diharrea funelled gentley into my ears than listen to this australian garbage.

    burningfeeetman (July 19, 2007)

This is one of the worst reviews I have ever seen.

"If this review made Yellowcard's review for Paper Walls wait, I'm going to march down to Punknew.org and demand to speak to the person(s) in charge!"

...Please tell us when you're marching down there. If you're the person who's been posting yellowcard crap all over this site then i'm gonna jump you and shove barbed wire up your puckered freckle.

    Trauma16 (July 18, 2007)

4 Stars? They must sound better on record then they do live. They were downright terrible when they were opening on that Never Shave again tour last fall.

    Anonymous (July 18, 2007)

who is this tard who gave them four stars?? Stop wasting our time!

    insinceredave (July 18, 2007)

How did this get posted? Not a good review at all.

'fans favorites' just doesn't wash with me.

    rkl (July 18, 2007)

i dont know why, but i have a hard time trusting reviews(especially 4/5 star ones) from people who've never contributed anything to the site in the way of comments before... just seems a little too street-team/band member ish

JJ (their drummer) has a new thing going...

This is one of the worst metalcore bands I've ever heard. Wow.
Actually, I might download it just to make fun of it.

    WainscottRockCity (July 18, 2007)

yeah right and she was HAVING A BALL...

    Anonymous (July 17, 2007)

this album is actually really, really shit.

    Anonymous (July 17, 2007)

    i love this album.
i know its a bit generic at times. but i think its amazing. the guitar work is incredible. and the drums are epic. dont judge the band by their shit, shit name.

    nate_derby (July 17, 2007)

If you're going to keep reviewing shit like this here, please just quit while you're ahead. I'm sure they'll enjoy it at AbsolutePunk though.

    Anonymous (July 17, 2007)

I've never listened to this band, but the band name alone is enough to make me stay the fuck away. seriously. i don't think i've ever heard a worse name for a band. Score is for the band name.

    millman (July 17, 2007)

    street team?

    Anonymous (July 17, 2007)

These guys suck some major donkey dick.

    Anonymous (July 17, 2007)

These guys were fucking boring and generic. This reviewer is a shitty writer and clearly has his head up his ass.

    freesandwich (July 17, 2007)

    how gay

    Anonymous (July 17, 2007)

This is not a good review.
    5/10 is my score.

    Anonymous (July 17, 2007)

Everything that's wrong with metal, you can find it with these guys. Didn't they break up though?

    Albert_Belle (July 17, 2007)

An 8?! This band was fucking terrible. But hey, if you're into breakdowns and shitty riffs, you'll probably enjoy this shit pile.

    ConsolationPrizefighter (July 17, 2007)

They sound exactly like Atreyu to me. Atreyu sucks. So by the transitive property of suck, this album is in fact not worth grabbing. Show some fucking objectivity.

    Anonymous (July 17, 2007)

I've taken shits that vaguely resemble better written reviews than this.

    Anonymous (July 17, 2007)

    seriously?
