So I tried to start this review off with an explanation of how the Epoxies are not a gimmick band. I had a bunch of sweet comparisons comparing supposed non-gimmick bands to other bands that are considered to be a gimmick. Well, that explanation did not turn out very well, so I deleted it. There is no way I am going to change people's definition of the word "gimmick," so I'll just let each person use their own definition for the word. Onto the review.

I heard two of the songs on mys[ace and they were pretty boring and I thought their last album was pretty good. great band, but they need to play it faster Don't forget, also, that the Vindictives covered Robot Man on 'Party Time for Assholes' before this band was ever conceived. I thought it was far superior, but I'm biased. i think i'm done w/ the epoxies. their debut was a killer record from start to finish but now they're just repeating themselves. they're not trying anything new. its the same shit over and over. and that's no fun. 'stop the future' was boring as all hell. i bought this mostly for the Wipers' cover (god, i love that band) and to give them one more shot. this ep did nothing for me. such a cool band. if they would just stretch out a bit more. try something different music wise and lyric wise. "If you have not heard the original you should probably buy a Wipers record instead of that NOFX album you were planning on buying. " Roxy has really cool music taste, and i love robots and new wave... but this band just doesn't work for me. Best conclusion ever The EP kicks ass. To quote myself from a while ago: this band left Fat Wreck Chords? indeed it is a Scorpions song. uh...Epoxies didn't write "Robot Man." "has ever wrote." |
