This Is a StandoffThis Is a Standoff: Be ExcitedBe Excited (2007)Household Name Records Reviewer Rating: 3.5 User Rating: Contributed by: thirtysecondsthirtyseconds (others by this writer | submit your own) Yes, it sounds like Belvedere. But there are differences. First of all, This Is a Standoff's debut LP is slightly less agressive sounding than Belvedere. Partly because the band seems to opt for a less metallic sound, and partly because TIAS are missing Scott and Jason -- who provided the shouty par.

Partly because the band seems to opt for a less metallic sound, and partly because TIAS are missing Scott and Jason -- who provided the shouty parts in Belvedere. I was worried a little about this at first. But after over a week with Be Excited in my CD player, it's hard to believe I ever lost faith in Steve Rawles' abilitly to write a damn good tune. Oh yeah, another difference...the production is FINALLY absolutely spot on. Score.

these guys suck just about as much as any band can. pass Solid 8. This record is really good, I think its catchier than any of Belvedre's records This is some of the worst cover art I've seen in a while. The girl isn't even hot enough to be a mindless sexual object. Any misogynistic fantasies I could possibly entertain while looking at this album art just died. Gonna be picking up this for sure. I find all the producton kudos to be pretty funny, now these guys decide to get it right? Im gonna wait to be the judge of that. The mastering was so fucked up on Fast Forward Eats The Tape that it wasent even listed in the Cd Booklet. I must say, Scumpunch! is a pretty rad band. My band is playing with this is a standoff this saturday, and i love this record!! HEY BARRY WHY DON'T YOU JUST TAKE MY JOB, THANKS Mmmm did I really call it "Get Excited?" Fuck. I had "slaves to the pavement" on just before writing this. I really miss Belvedere. HEY BARRY WHY DON'T YOU JUST TAKE MY JOB, THANKS I really wanted this to be better - the production, as you said, is great, Graham is great, the vocals are great, but the guitarwork is a significant step down from Belvedere. aye, good album but not amazing. like belvedere but not as exciting (shame considering the album name) and more poppier. Isn't this album called "Be Excited"? this is a great album. but it does sound A LOT like belvedere. the differences are very slight. probably the best post-belvedere band yet. |
