Since the release of The Creek Drank the Cradle in 2002, Samuel Beam, who uses the stage name Iron & Wine, has released a string of fine albums and EPs. Since the release of In the Reins, a collaboration with indie rock band Calexico, it seems that Iron & Wine's way of working has slighty changed.

I have known about this guy for a while, since seeing Garden State. But this is the first record I have picked up and listened too. And I am very impressed. Awesome record. the creek drank the cradle is by far the best iron & wine record. the lo-fi recording matches the tone of the record perfectly. this record has its high points, as does everything since previously stated record, however never really reaches the level of coherency and all around amazingness of 'the creek drank the cradle'. that's my opinion anyways. "approchable" - i give spellcheck 4 stars on this one. fourstarreviews.org Love this man. I liked Woman King quite a bit, but I can't really get into this at all. I feel so alone. Nice to see someone reviewing this on here...this album definitely should appeal to most music lovers, what with the well-done, varied styles and all. Someone said it wasn't as strong as iron & wine's previous efforts, but I believe it's at least on par with them. i can't get into it. not nearly as good as previous efforts. good album but icant imagine too many folks around these parts digging it. but who knows, i could be wrong Fuck. Meant to review this. This is just brilliant. Like you say, I just keep coming back. I love "Resurrection Fern"... classic Iron & Wine. This is a 8, bordering on 9. Boy with a Coin is awesome. Some of the songs he over does it with the weird echo voice though. |
