Like just about the entirety of the Grave Mistake roster, Deep Sleep play early `80s hardcore, though with more of an adolescent, scratchy vocal front and a much less abrasive coating. They're often compared to Descendents, and while I wouldn't have thought of the comparison myself, it makes sense to draw a parallel to Descendents' early work upon listening, though of course without the noticeably poppy or upbeat edge. Maybe a bit of Jerry's Kids is in here as well.

some reviewer has never listened to all before whoops just looked at there myspace nvm textbook time bomb rules, i think manic euphoria is posthumous because i remember hearing about them breaking up I'm not sure the new one blows You're Screwed away, only because it would've taken one hell of a follow-up to blow it away. It's still quite a bit better, and probably my favorite 7" of the year, though. Manic Euphoria blows away You're Screwed. And I thought that the first one was one of the best 7"s I picked up last year. The little Descendents-esque guitar noodles get me every single time. |
