When Killing the Dream play live, they cement all the youth-crew revival comparisons they're tagged with, as competent as they do sound. However, on record they're an entirely different beast (maybe aside from "We Were" here). Killing the Dream play with darker guitar tones and become a much more intense, throttling monster that takes them from grounds comfortable with their peers and into territory that refreshingly doesn't seem entirely familiar.

I actually gave it a four star rating. I don't know why two came up. This is the kind of record you turn to when you're really pissed about something. While I'm usually never stoked on the over use of swearing. Here, it absolutely makes perfect sense. I think it's because we're often used to hearing it in songs that don't need it. Where it's only purpose is to fill a gap in the cadence. But it just makes it sound that much more urgent on this record. This album would make most people feel uncomfortable, and that's pretty appealing. i mean: i was never too big on these guys. this album is definitly smothering, but in a great way. love it A little bit harsh maybe. I personally think this album is pretty damn fantastic. I always liked this band, but I was never huge into them. I have their previous album, but I haven't listened to it in a long time. They always reminded me of Integrity (a very good thing). i like the use of a few more melodies this time around, but for the most part all of their songs sound too much alike. the band plays really tight and thew recording is swell too, but i can't really get into the singer's voice or the lyrics. some of the substance gets lost when you curse so effing much. it sounds exactly like in place, apart Why haven't I gotten this yet? I fail. |
