Starting a melodic punk band isn't something I would typically consider a "risky idea". Unless, of course, you happen to be from Virgina, or worse Richmond. Then you happen to have just a little company. With such legendary punk and melodic hardcore bands hailing from one area it seems nearly impossible to bring anything new or worthwhile to the table. It's must be an intimidating undertaking for Landmines, and it's one they handle about as well as any band could.

Yes cause I'm a strange, slow and old person who still uses and buys CDs. Yes cause I'm a strange, slow and old person who still uses and buys CDs. I want this on CD!!!! Action Patrol! I haven't heard that name in years. Gonna go throw those records on the turntable right now. I don't have this in the mail yet but I have their demos and saw them open for smoke or fire and had an awesome time. Can't wait. They're playing that show too? I definately plan on making it. I have a wedding up in the DC area on Sat and we have friends in the Richmond area to stay the night with, so I'm looking good for it. I've been listening to this record for the past few months almost daily. Great dudes, and a great album. If I wasn't close friends with the band, I would have gladly reviewed this. I think the aggressive melodies really set this apart. I see a little bit of BIgwig influence as well, but maybe it's just me. Great review Dante. Also, these guys are putting out some pretty solid music. As I've mentioned on here before, they didn't sound that great live w/ Gaslight @ Canal Club, but as their music is so awesome, I'm chalking it up to an off night and look forward to seeing them again. Haha, I can see the Action Patrol similarities; the arms, the red and orange. Good catch. Wonder if it was on purpose? 128 bitrate will be fixed soon......promise been excited about this since the demo. shit didn't disappoint. Wait wait wait! Usually don't like most hardcore bands, but this is pretty damn good. Good record. Snag it if you dig Lifetime, Smoke Or Fire, Strike Anywhere and Latterman. Okay, good point about the bitrate. I disagree about a live band standing still but playing well being lackluster. Bottom line: if the music is good then I dont give a shit about anything else. Merely for its music? Dude, bands play music! They dont play album art! Judge them entirely for their music! Unfortunately, this album can not be looked at merely for it's music. the artwork bears a slight resemblance to another (recently re-united) richmond band. AP->, anyone? |
