Spooning members of high-profile bands into a musical blender doesn't always yield appealing results. Just ask Velvet Revolver or Audioslave. But sometimes, in rare instances when the ingredients combine well, it works. What do you get when you mix two parts Blood Brothers and one part Pretty Girls Make Graves? A combination with more than a few lumps yet still savory and worthy of attention. The Brothers Johnny Whitney and Cody Votolato join Pretty Girl J Clark to hammer out quirky, uncompromising jams.

needs more cowbell. the b-side on the single is the best song they've done. it's not on this album. Dear RRK, This is one of the more poor reviews that I've seen on here recently. Aside from simple grammatical errors, the descriptions of the music are quite poor. I really have no idea what to expect, having not heard this album. It took a while but I like this a lot. Saw them open for The Faint and they sounded great and were very entertaining. I was pissed when all of the Faint fans booed them. Even if you don't like the music, you cant deny that Johnny puts on one hell of a show. This isn't bad, although I'm not sure there isn't THAT much of a leap from Neon Blonde and The Blood Brothers to this. You really can't sound too different when you have a distinguishable voice. It's got some really good songs, but also some that are not so good. 3/5 I can't staaaaaaand this guy's voice. Seriously, it ruins everything he touches. |
