Young Widows released a solid album in 2006 titled Settle Down City. Drawing on the influences of Jesus Lizard and Black Flag among others, they released an album that was respectable in all sense of the word. They put out an album that people definitely liked.

I love that artwork. I'm listening to the mp3s right now, pretty good. just got it off emusic. fuckin awesome. Album of the Year. Fuck! great! perfect record. if you don't like it you're insane. trust me, you'll dig it. want. that was a convincing review. i will be buying this and holding bill nye responsible i got the blue/silver haze vinyl. fuckingggg rules. should probably pick this up, i love black cross (though i found breather to be kinda lackluster), plus i love me some jesus lizard. the greatest part about this record is that they record half in studio half live and picked whatever sounded best, I think that's sick, speaking of sick the vinyl is amazing, skulls in the vinyl... who else has that shit? Settle Down City was one of my surprise faves of that year, listened to it a fuckload. Really good heavy music, although I haven't listened to it in a minute. If a fan thinks this is even better that is good enough for me to pick up. best yet out of these guys. great fucking record, and the live recordings worked surprisingly well. this band is essentially what you get when you cross the jesus lizard and shellac, which is a beautiful thing. awesome fucking record. |
