This is an awful, boring, and grating record that tries to be both punk and "accessible" to a mainstream audience and fails at both. All I could think of the whole time I listened to this was that it sounded like the band that some "rocker" girl on "American Idol" would start after she duped her 13-year-old girl fanbase into thinking this music was good.

The reviewer of this album is pretty far off base. It may not be his cup of tea but most of the claims he makes are dubious at best. The arrangements are on par with any decent punk album and calling the vocals "Imperious" is a critique that could easily be given to the majority of punk albums ever released. Overall I felt the album was well recorded with an interesting mix of songs that don't submit to the generic punk rock rubber stamp of three chords and a blast beat and the musicianship is remarkable at times. Yes, some of the lyrics are a bit heavy handed but only on a couple of the songs and if this was actually the product of an American Idol contestant I need to start watching that show. |
