Building off a foundation of angular but loose garage rock, Deerhoof has once again released an album bound to cause mild confusion in the uninitiated listener. Shedding most of the electronic element that has been featured in previous efforts, Offend Maggie is instead a showcase of big guitar riffs and steady and intricate drum beats.

Great band. Pretentious indie assholes do have a tendency to gravitate towards them, but that doesn't change the fact they rock. Oh relax, the baseball bat was a fucking joke. The kid was a tool, unless of course you can tell me otherwise. Sorry I offended your band/review. This one time, someone wrote a band's name on a whiteboard, so they suck, because I thought the guy's personal character wasn't how I'd like to portray myself (to the point of me threatening violence, possibly due to my own insecurities). Fleetwood Mac totally ripped off this album cover My only experience to this band was when I was in college living in the dorms. The guy across the hall from me had one of those things they give you to put on your door so you can write on it with a dry erase marker. He had a list of "10 artists that must be stopped" along with about 10 bands that he suggested one listen to. Of course this cocksmoke was a typical pretentious indie douchebag whose head you'd love to bash the fuck in with a baseball bat. Anyway, Deerhoof was one of the bands on there so I say fuck them. I prefer more angularity in the foundation of my loose garage rock. this band blows goathoofs. Score is for Eazy's comment. i dont see how you can give this 4 stars considering its complete lack of cowbell. I love Deerhoof. Even though I like most of these songs, I'm sad the album kinda undoes everything Friend Opportunity did. That was a real experimental album for them, production wise, and now they're right back to the Runners Four sound and if it never happened. Oh well, "The Tears of Music And Love" is friggin awesome. Awesome. |
